I used to like The Exhibit but it has gone downhill in the last year or so. The staff can be awful at times ("what do you mean, you don't want lemon in your coke? Just take it out then!"), and it is expensive too. But I have noticed just how tacky and cheap it is looking now; it has had some renovating done on it and it just looks so awful now. There used to be some nice tables and chairs on the ground floor - they've been replaced by what look like some small old camping furniture bought from a car boot sale.
The idea of a small cinema is good though.

Cool unpretentious relaxing place to have a quiet drink in, and the food is very good, especially their Sunday roasts! Staff great too, especially when a mate was involved in an accident nearby and the staff were very kind and helpful.

Love this place. Admittedly a tad small, but is great in the summer sitting outside eating their smashing food and drnking from a selection of good beers.

A huge place that looks like it was built in the 17th century with uneven wooden beams and a dark unkempt look but was actually built in the 1930s! Generally a good place for a few beers and a few frames of pool - nice atmosphere helped by the local language school students frequenting this place too. However, the toilets here (male ones anyway) are the worst I have ever been to - it's like descending into a dark dank torture-chamber with ankle-deep urine - suggest waders and a gas mask

Used to have good live music on some nights - my mate actually got his wedding reception entertainment from a bloke he saw perform here. Otherwise not got a lot going for it now except that they try with the food. Staff generally polite and good and drinks ok. Bit of a pre-club place on Friday and Saturday nights though (not my cup-of-tea). One good thing now though, is that they no longer compete with the King and Queen as having the worst loos in Brighton.

Dull food and that takes ages to get to your table, and a strange bloke with an 18th century-pirates-beard working there who's been to the Basil Fawlty School of Customer Service. Otherwise nothing special about this one except for the two pool-tables.

A bit grimy and grotty on the surface but the friendly staff and atmosphere make up for that. Plus a bit of a selection of ales and the food can be pretty good too (typical English pub food really - burgers, omelettes, and other typical stuff served with chips)

Your typical Wetherspoons pub really, with half-decent food and a big spacious floor plan with clean facilities. Staff a bit on the slow and surly side though.

The George and Dragon, Houghton
Was a good pub a few years ago with very good food and was popular with the locals and with people from further afield. Recently suffered with poor management who managed to drive away the regulars and the food went downhill. Now under new management which although haven't been recently it has improved a lot and the car park is now generally overflowing at weekends, which is a good sign.

The Raven, Bath
I found this pub last year (when staying in the hotel opposite) and loved it. I was in Bath for a couple of hours the other evening and had to pop in, and it's as I remember it. The beer is exemplary, the service good, and the generally ambience of the place is relaxed and cool - I love this place, and wish there was something like it nearer to home. Long way to go for a beer though, unfortunately.
