Had this Wetherspoon's on my list to visit on New Year's Eve. But as we were about to walk in, a group of young guys exited and told us it was closed and there had been a leak through the ceiling. One of them then proceeded to urinate on the corner. We left them to it and enjoyed a pleasant drink in Belle Isle just opposite. I expect Wetherspoon's lost a decent evening takings from this. We'll be back again to try it one day. blue_scrumpy - 4 Feb 2018 19:45 |
Good range to local micros which was good to see. We only had time for one but sadly the Dark Star American Pale Ale was a little tired. Interesting building, a converted hotel with lots of character and right beside the market cross in the centre, about 5 to 7 minutes walk of the railway station. Steamer1 - 22 Apr 2015 22:20 |
Its in town, busy, reasonably comfortable and serves well kept real ale, and I know, it's a Wetherspoons?!? I sampled Dark Star Revelation, new to me. The menu has a good range of simple foods at low prices. Late afternoon and there are people of all age groups. Im in a window seat with a view of the Cathedral... quite pleasant.
