An excellent pub in the New Forest - and very handy when camping at the site next door.
A good selection of Wadworth ales sit alongside usually at least two of their own ales brewed on site. (The Tom's Tipple is a MUST have.)
Staff are always friendly, and the landlady (who used to work in The Rose in Wokingham, another of my old haunts) is always welcoming.
Food is good standard pub fare, but some of the specials are outstanding - and if they ever have a fillet steak on, insist on it being served on the skillet.
Make sure you book in summer!

Pleasant pub tucked away in the New Forest.
Always good beers on, usually the Wadworth selection.
Very popular with families and walkers and food is reasonable pub grub - you could even be lucky enough to grab some of the carvery!
Rambling inside and a huge garden with a vast array of tables, and a kids playground.

A great pub in the middle of the New Forest, and a perfect mornings walk from the Red Shoot campsite for a lunch stop.
A good selection of beers served directly from the cask behind the bar and are always in excellent condition.
Food is basic (don't expect chips!) and only served at lunchtime, being ploughmans, soups and the occasional sandwich.
Just beware of the opening hours - they don't open until midday on a Sunday (and an hour is a long time to wait when you've walked from the Red Shoot) and shut during the afternoon.

Good pub with superb selection of usually local ales.
Good selection of food, more limited on Sunday lunchtimes to your typical roast meal.
Newish landlord has turned trade around - was very busy when we visited on a Sunday lunchtime.
New patio area outside perfect for summer drinking.
And still has a skittle alley!
