For ales and civilised conversation (that need not necessarily involve football) this really is the stand out pub in the area. Only gripe is that it's sometimes difficult to see the selection of ales through the backs of people sat at the beer engine end of the bar. Otherwise the good Lord himself made this place for a tasty sup and a decent chat. At this point I'll confess to drinking 'cooking lager' everywhere else I go, reserving the pleasure of real ale solely for the Hope. Can we have the Brodies germanb wheat beer back again please?

A tea chest bass and snuff. How very civilised. JHB was excellent though my mates preferred Summer Ale. Still No. 1 pub in the area. Marvellous.

stuffed our faces here, me and mrs Den, the other night for 20. Decent grub @ decent price. Can't say fairer than that now, can we?

It's a website about beer. I love beer and pubs. Just had a pint of Discovery and am now wondering why I didn't try it before.

I've heard this called 'God's Waiting Room'. Well, if you're going to meet your maker this isn't a bad place at all for a beer and a bite while you await the Lord's summons. The food is usually good, sometimes excellent, especially given the price. Beer is always well kept and a diverse selection of ales on offer. Can get very busy with plenty of kids running round, especially in the garden, so not ideal for a quiet chat. Well above the regular 'Spoon standard and usually a decent atmosphere. No sign of the grim reaper yet!

As well run as any busy 'Spoon. Always a good pint though it get rowdy at weekends and evenings. He's a good singer, that ruddy faced drinker!

Love the Cock. Easily the best boozer at the top end of Sutton. Chiswick and Pride are super though the lager can be a bit flat at times. Clean, tidy and much less rowdy than the it's surroundings. Well up to Fuller's usual standards. A flat calm mill pond in a stormy sea.

Shame there's no real ale here, however, this seems to be the place locally for live music with an excellent line up of (mainly) good and sometimes great bands. Guinness is usually ok. Lager is lager and I still drink enough of it. Can be boisterous like any other town centre pub but well run and worth a visit for the music

Another friendly local with a warm welcome. A decent pint of pride and well away from the lunacy that seems to go on in the High Street these days. I had my first (legal) pint at the 'Jenny' over 20 years ago. Happy days

Rapidly becoming my favourite place to drink. Fantastic welcome. Always a different selection of well kept beers. Tried three before settling on Brewer's Droop which was good but not quite my taste. The antithesis of the pub chain 'outlet' and everything a great local boozer should be. Sadly Mrs Den wanted to move on as we were on a pub crawl so only the one here. I'll be back

Friendly staff and a warm welcome. Didn't fancy any of the ales on so had a Guinness instead, which was fine. Lovely family atmosphere in the garden and the food looked great, though we didn't eat.

The Fox and Hounds, Carshalton
Kicked off an ale crawl here. Barman recommended a pint of Greene King London Glory which I enjoyed. There was football on big screens around the pub and so we left after one coz that's not our scene. Shame to see a lack of live music here these days. There used to be jazz and decent bands on Sunday nights. Still, there is a jukebox and that's a rarity. Last time I came in somebody was selecting so many decent tunes we stayed all night.

Harry Satcher Trio were absolutely bloody fantastic on Sat 31st July. And a super pint of Doom Bar too.

The DarkStar American Pale was absolutely A1 last Saturday. Poor girl behind the bar spent the whole night on the one pump. Superb selection of extremely well kept ales. Always something to enjoy. No muzak, Jukebox, and no amusement machines. Damn tasty rolls too.

The Nightingale, Sutton
Still my favourite pub and the one I'm seen most often at. Crammed into this small, intimate and friendly atmosphere is a stage where most Friday nights and Sunday afternoons they have fantastic bands playing a wide range of music. A pub full of genuine music fans enjoying great live music, close up and in yer face. Occasionally they hold a jam session which is a massively over subscribed but not to be missed event. Pride and Timothy Taylor Landlord are ever present. Must confess to being a lager man here. Ales are lush but with my digestive system chaos ensues following (rare but much appreciated) sessions on the real stuff.
