Went there in the afternoon last week. Liked it a lot. There's a reasonable amount of parking space to begin with. The outside could do with a touch-up but very nicely decorated and arranged inside.Large garden with plenty of tables and a nice expansive view across fields. Had an in-a-basket bar meal that was very good, more than enough to eat and fairly priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only criticism (or maybe not) was that there's no real play equipment for children (although there was an area and some kids goalposts+net for football).

A lot has changed with new ownership. The decor has been totally replaced. It's become very much a mecca to music with hardly an inch of wall space not covered with either guitars or music poster memorabilia. It's not to my taste (too cluttered) but it is very clean and modern looking.
One thing that will stop me going back however is the cost of drinks. I paid 3.20 for a bottle of Pils and with not a lot of choice for draught lager/beer I won't be rushing back. I guess unless you're a big chain you can't afford to keep prices down though.

Very pleased to see this pub re-opened and in great shape.

Went in on Sat 29 Aug 09 and was really pleased with the changes brought in by Wetherspoons. Not too busy, staff pleasant and friendly, decor very good and the expected beer range from a Wetherspoons. Better for a quiet drink and conversation than most of the other pubs in Fareham.

Recently taken over by a new landlord with lots of redecoration done inside. Themed as a sort of American-style bar. Also now offers hot meals cooked to order. Down to one pool table. Staff friendly and place feels very light and clean and airy.

This pub has a fairly uninspiring exterior but is quite comfortable inside. Not the greatest selection on tap but it's a local estate pub and caters for the average customer. Couple of pool tables, awkwardly placed dartboard, good jukebox and a selection of sofa, table and stool seating. Reasonably good parking facilities. Wouldn't stretch myself to visit but would stop off if I was passing.

The Horse and Jockey, Hipley
Popped in with the family for a drink and it was extremely busy. I think this was down to a large amount of garden/outside space. Plenty of car parking though. It was ok but the play equipment in the garden was probably suitable for up to about 6 years old. My 10 year olds' opinion was - "this place is pants". Not a great selection of drinks but they did have HSB. Soft drinks were rather limited. Also the food was definitely quite pricey. Small bar area, so getting served is a small problem. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just felt there was ...something...a bit lacking. A very family and small kids type of pub though.
