The Royal Albert, South Lambeth

Sadly its just closed down for a few months while they build flats above the pub - also means losing the pool tables upstairs :((((
This would be why the beers were running low..

Suggest as alternatives:
The Canton Arms (South Lambeth Rd)
The Fentiman Arms (Fentiman Rd)
The Greyhound (Clapham Rd)

Ciaran_S' comments about the previous pub manager saying "its nice to be important but its important to be nice" was EXACTLY what that bloke said to me as well! (although he added "In MY pub" beforehand).
Our crime was simply to try and sit outside on a Sunday. And yes, Sundays were the day to avoid it as the service and the grouchy landlord were nightmares. Hopefully the new manager will turn it round and having seen the message I will be giving it a go again. As a resident of Fentiman Road, and seeing that the Albert is temporarily shut down, it is a good bet (although the Greyhound on Clapham Road is a great old school boozer with a new range of wines and irish whiskeys and the sunday roasts are half the price for more food)...
