Tried a Thwaites Wainwright which wasn't too bad but didn't commit to trying it again and instead quaffed a Jennings Cumberland which ticked all the boxes at the back of the throat.
Cracking pub.

According to JDWetherspoons website "We support CAMRA and recognise excellence in the service of cask ale".
It's a pity the Sir Henry Tate is not singing from the same hymn sheet.

Tried to sample a couple around 22:00 hrs earlier this evening and to my amazement it was shut.
The lights were on and there were at least two people sat at the bar but alas that damn door was not for opening.
Damn and Blast!!!!

Tried a pint of Hobgoblin which, to be honest, wasn't anything to write home about.
Always amazes me how big this place is on the INSIDE.
Cracking little pub

Nice little basic boozer, not been in for some 15 or so odd years.
Tried the Black Sheep Bitter which although wasn't bang on, was palatable.

Well, after reading boltonbloke's comment I had to pay a visit and it would seem everything's back to normal(ish).
Excellent pint of Bateman's XXXB and a good craic with the half a dozen or so punters in the small snug.

Passed by on the way to the PoW & it was open but didn't call in.

Called in last of week and was not disappointed. Well worth the trek.

The word on the street is that Bank Top Brewery have bought the place, if the old Carters Arms on Belmont Road is anything to go by, it should go down a treat.
Here's hoping.

As Yamato suggests, It'll 'Kick Off' any time now.
Absolute garbage.
Tonight they had Bank Top Flat Cap and the ubiquitous, awful Tetley 'Cask'.
I asked for a taster of the Flat Cap but due to the fact Cask doesn't 'move' that well it smelt dreadful.
Having said that, It was somewhat entertaining when the bar staff decided to pass around the offending 'Taster' and tried to portray an air of indignation that I had had the audacity to actually complain.
Thank god the Crown was only a short windswept stroll away.

Worried the bar staff for an excellent Blond Witch, sampled a Joey Holt and it was superb. The place to be.

Called in earlier this evening and the beer was on top notch, ended up in a group discussion about the local puds and beer of our yesterdays.
Excellent evening

Excellent pint of White Rabbit.
Only down side was the effing & jeffing from the poker table.

Oh dear, how things change.
I'm sure this pub was in the Good Beer Guide a few years ago.
