The Boot and Slipper, Amersham
I mentioned my experience to a friend who happens to runt he Queens Head in Chesham. She said she would NEVER go back to the Boot & Slipper after her experience a few weeks ago - they tried to speak to the manager about it but he was uninterested and they walked out!!

Fabulous pub! Friendly and helpful staff. Landlady is lovely. Great food and good sized portions. Smoking ban has improved it ten fold and I loved it to begin with! Great community events including a charity bike ride and fun day. Just lovely!

The Boot and Slipper, Amersham
I went with a group of friends to the Boot and Slipper last night. I can say strongly enough how ridiculously BAD the service was!!!! The food was mediocre at best, portions were small and it wasn't cooked as specified (steak).
We waited 15 minutes to be seated at a table that had been reserved for us and when the guy came to seat us, he just walked past muttering 'follow me'. We then waited another age for someone to take the order which took AN HOUR to arrive!!!!!!!
We ordered wine at the table and then when it came to ordering food, we were told someone would be with us 'in a moment' to take the order and then that there was no table service only to have someone else come past a moment later and ask to take our order!
when it came to ordering more drinks we were told there was no table service again, despite the menu stating that there was after 6pm.
When it came to paying, we were told that we had to do so at the bar. When we spoke to the barman about shoddy service, long waits etc he just shrugged his shoulders!
Absolutely AWFUL service, mediocre food - DON'T GO!!!

The Black Cat, Lye Green
Came under new management just over a year ago - what an improvement!! Opened as a non-smoking pub, newly decorated and cleaned up. The Landlord and Landlady (Lou & Elaine) have injected some much needed energy and life into the place. Huge community spirit in there now and many of the people in the village frequent the pub now. Teams for alsorts including darts and off-roading!!
Food is really good and the Sunday lunch is brilliant. Puddings to die for.
Well worth coming out of town for.
Brilliant!
