The Horseshoe Hotel, Egton Bridge
A cracker. Lovely pub with extensive and pretty beer garden in a beautiful setting with good beer. Reccomended.

Good local boozer. Friendly staff, good food and a mix of locals and walkers and train enthusiasts. Front bar can be a bit crowded when busy but good mix of friendly locals and tourists.

Great food and drink. Theakston's Black Bull was good, haddock and chips was enormous and very tasty, staff were friendly and the pub has great character and a beer garden that catches the sunshine. I camped and had an excellent breakfast !

Disappointing. There was Thwaite's Bomber on tap for a while, but after it ran out there were no other real ales on offer. Atmosphere wasn't that friendly and the staff were a little distracted.

Agree to an extent with the last post that it seemed to be tourists in the majority, but there was a good selection of beer including Copper Dragon and the atmosphere, whilst subdued, was far from unfriendly.

Had their own brew on when I visited as part of the Coast to Coast. It was a good pint and not too strong, just the ticket. Food was good, suet pudding, and plentiful and whilst service wasn't effusive it was friendly and efficient.

The Queen Catherine, Osmotherley
Good local, decent beer, Reverend James when I visited, and very walker friendly. I had the Corned Beef Pie for tea which was immense and very tasty. A good pub.

Excellent pub with a real fire, good food and friendly French staff and management. The Wainwright was very good and the Nutty Black was excellent too. Bar is very small and I imagine would be very crowded on a Sunny Saturday, but can't reccommend highly enough. Rooms are comfortable and spacious.

Can be a victim of its own success, but an amazing array of beers and great to pop in for a couple of pints in the day

Heights Hotel and Crag Bar, Castlerigg
Very small pub, that gets busy with campers. Good jennings bitter and when we went the staff kept serving through a power cut and bought out candles for all the tables. Get there early, and if it's raining, stay for the night !

The Filo (First In Last Out), Hastings
I miss Crofters !! Another pub that's great in the winter with a fire going.

Had many good nights here when I lived in the area. One of the better old town pubs. Beer was usually good and when the fire got going it was great though everyone would end up coming out smelling of wood smoke. Much better than the Pump House !

Not much Czech about it. Dodgy clientele and dull, uninspiring interior. Many better pubs within short distance of here.

Corbieres Wine Cavern, Manchester
Great drinking hole (literally). Always has an interesting selection of beers and a diverse clientele. Tends to keep a low profile itself which suits as it tends to be more the people in the know. Can be a bit loud when the jukebox is cranked up

One of the best city centre pubs which always has good selection of hand pumps. Can get very busy in the couple of hours after work and on a Friday evening. Bar is very small but atmosphere generally convivial and staff efficient so don't usually have to wait too long!

Used to be a fantastic pub, but concur with view expressed by last poster. The new landlord has dramatically reduced the quality of the pub. I was once a regular, last time I visited the new guy was rude and aggressive and looks like he is spoiling a decent locals pub.

Good selection of beer and generally a good crack, though can't help feel that some of the previous posters are over-egging the humble working man bit.........Probably suffered a bit with the smoking ban and the Saturday night karaoke is noisy and popular. Overall though good value and a decent pint of Cumberland usually available.

Almost never has any decent hand pump beer nowadays and the food is ordinary at best. No character, bland and corporate.

Good pub. Good beer and pork scratchings. Staff are efficient and service quick no matter how busy. Front half of the pub has a bit of character. Landlord (Ken) is a grumpy so and so, but it makes for a good haven to avoid the football.......Beer has always been good.

The Dog and Partridge, Didsbury
Excellent pub which does get very busy. Landlord is always good and there is a regularly changing long list of guest ales. Free monkey nuts in the bar and good, efficient service. Friendly landlord (not all that common in Didsbury). One of my faves in South Manchester

Very hit and miss. The management and service have been poor for as long as I've been drinking there (8 years) but it's a handy stop and usually has reasonable Boddies or Bombadier. Sport is always on and can get quite busy on a Saturday but mostly with non-locals

The Bay Hotel, Whitby
Average pub in a nice spot that struggles to cope with the numbers of visitors. Still probably the best in the area, but Fylingdale Arms up the road is a better bet!
