During the 17th century the Ostrich Inn had a very famous chef who went by the name of the Jarman. Recipes such as Deep Fried Fat Pig and Cole-in-the-Brook, and Trap-Door-Baguette were enjoyed by the locals.
The good food came to an end due to his unfortunate execution.

The Eagle and Child, Oxford
The pub takes its name from the crest of the Earl of Derby which shows a royal child being brought up and educated in an eagles nest. Inspector Morse and CS Lewis filmed an episode here.
