The Nascot Arms, Watford

This is without any doubt the best little pub in Watford, tucked away in a side street just up the road from Watford junction it is easily accessed by the traveller. A Greene King pub it is stacked out with guest ales as well as the usual IPA & Abbot also top notch pub grub.
If you fancy getting steamed up off the beaten track then this is the boozer for you.

The Verulam Arms, Watford

Drove by this place on my way to the Tudor Arms, don't know what it is now but it doesn't look like a pub anymore.

Tudor Arms, Watford

A couple of enjoyable visits here lately, especially a friday night when there was an abundance of eye candy. Good atmosphere, good food and more ales, don't know if they change them regularly but there were three selections.
Best pub in the locality.

Keep your sword drawn, and your back to the bar.

Tudor Arms, Watford

Friday afternoon, full of self employed types knocking off early (probably charging for a full day).
Sat/Sun afternoon early evening. Only use this pub during these times if 1. You are a sports fanatic or 2. You enjoy drinking with knuckle dragging Untermensh.

Tudor Arms, Watford

Big pub (three bars) in North Watford. Wadworth 6X is their permanent Ale (Cask Marque). For lager drinkers Stella and Carlsberg export as premiums also the usual type range of nondescript rubbish.
All in all a decent enough pub, food sold till 9pm, big garden, big car park, friendly atmosphere. As with most pubs it gets busy Friday nights, also with several large screen TV's Saturday & Sunday afternoons can be a bit hectic.
Worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in the area, especially because with other pubs in the locale' you need to wear a gum shield.

The Horns, Watford

Good place for a quiet drink on a Saturday afternoon (as long as Watford are not playing at home). Well kept ales, I had a pint of Pride and an Old Speckled Hen.
Not so keen on the internal layout now they have ripped the guts out of the pub, but it is of a much larger scale than before & ideal for the nocturnal music scene.

The Salutation, Hammersmith

Went in there late Sat. afternoon. Big pub and obviously atuned to the locals with big TV screens showing sporting results also one or two punters in there reading papers who had the feel about them that they had just finished work.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, good service, and good beer. I had two pints of London Pride that were in A1 condition.
This boozer is also mentioned in the CAMRA London pub walks. If I were in this neck of the woods again, I would give it another visit.

The Hope and Anchor, Hammersmith

Did'nt know this was a gay pub. Visited Sat. 29th Dec. Late afternoon/early evening (saloon bar) and their were only two people in there, a woman and a man with a dog that cocked it's leg up on one of the tables, they both seemed to be known by the bar staff who did'nt bat eye lid.
Any way went there as part of a CAMRA London pub walk (No. 17). Don't know why it's on their list as it no longer sells any real ale.
GIVE IT A MISS. It's not worth a look. I certainly will not be going back, and not just because it happens to be a gay pub either, mind you the geezer I was drinking with is a "Fruit" maybe he was after something? Nah!!!... It's a Crap pub!

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Cracking little boozer, full of charm and well worth a visit. It is tiny though, with one small front bar and an even smaller one at the back known as the closet, so no wonder it gets packed so quickly with the luchtime and after work suits. I walked in at 2.30 thursday afternoon and there were only a few people left in there and it was just right.
Ales are really well kept. I started off on Butcombe Gold (the guest ale), then went on to Deuchars IPA, Adnams Bitter, Adnams Broadside then back to the Butcombe which I found to be an exceptionally refreshing light coloured ale. All ales around 3.00 a pint.
Also had a couple of their Scotch eggs at 1.25 each, nice, but only the Peters sort that you get at the local chippy. They also had a selection of toasted sandwiches at 1.50, sausage rolls, porkpies and hot sausages were also available(suits had scoffed all the hot sausages).
Best way to find this pub, is to come out of Chancery Lane tube exit 2 for Holborn Circus and keep walking in the same direction, it's literally only a couple of minutes walk, much closer than it looks on the map. When you get to hatton Garden just look across the road and you will see the alley way in which it's situated, if not you can easily recognise some of the shop signs from the photo.

The Jolly Friars, Watford

This boozer has been bulldozed, it is now a building site. A shame really as there are no other pubs locally. Mind you it was a right old dump !!!

The Artichoke, Croxley Green

Went there on a Saturday night, lovely pub right on the village green. No guest ales, bombardier was off leaving just the IPA on the ale front. In view of this I hit the Stella (marvelous pint) and after 8 stumbled off to catch the bus.
Noticed a couple of old fire places that looked as if they're well used, so I would imagine it'll be nice and cosey in the winter. I will definitely be going back soon!

The Fighting Cocks, St Albans

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks is the correct name for this lovely quaint old boozer. Reputedly the oldest pub in the land it's a great place to go if you are trying to impress a date, with it's low ceilings and original oak beams, and a great atmosphere. Best visited in the winter though, as in the summer it's a real task to get near the bar, let alone get served.
