A friendly pub with friendly atmosphere provided by the locals, Sunday lunches are very good and plenty of it for the price. The pub could do with a bit of a refurb though, well a complete refurb....oh sorry, apparently it had one not so long ago....the gents toilets tiled, but if you don't mind the smell of the mens toilets and the odd flooding of the urinal now and again then pay a visit (in your wellies) to this pub, even if it just for the freindly hospitality and a beer before going to watch ther local football team, Hampton and Richmond.

The Railway Hotel....a place where you can turn up at 01:00 in the night/morning when the everybody else has gone home and the pub is closed and not leave until 11:30 the next morning (especillay if you are of 'Eastern European' origin.....what goes on behind closed doors....one wonders!!

Nice decor inside, good beer and good food, but...why have a smoking area at the rear of the pub when the management and customers spill out on the street for a fag, unsightly seeing boozy people standing on the narrow pathway smoking and drinking and being oisey....clientel seems to be slipping back to the old crowd too, nice pub at first but the standards have slipped a little, wont be my regular venue anymore!! Sorry chaps!!

The Jolly has got new ownership, the little lepricorn that worked behind the bar is no longer but the bouncer Tony is still a fixture there. Still the same faces drink there (all 5 of them) and thats on a Saturday evening!! Started to do Indian food but have not tried it yet so cannot comment.
Place needs to go through a refurb and name change I think as there is nothing jolly about this place at present.
Sorry folks!!

Spent an evening or two here in June 2007, very relaxing and very nice village pub, nice walk from the Walston Castle. Food is very good (good selection and better than at the Walston) value for money, not a bad choice of beers just a shame that they do not have 1664 on tap there, not too fond of Stella myself. Nice and clean, especially as there is 'NO SMOKING' allowed inside. John the barman, very helpfull and welcoming. The locals are friendly too!!
Next time I am in the village I will definately pop in for a meal and drink.
Thank you all for a warm welcom!!

The Railway Hotel, Hampton
Patrick, you came and wanted to turn things around for this pub, you did to start with but now.....a brothel in Hampton, don't think so......have respect for the people that live in Hampton please, also, have some respect for your neighbours......not nice having lager louts singing and shouting to each other from across the road, especially at 01:00am....RESPECT, sorry you don't have any do you!!
