The Gig House, Wokingham

Chav tastic disco bar, full of loud chart music (ie. trash) music videos and faceless bar staff interested only in getting the evening over and done with.

Seems to think it's 'cleverer than it is', rude doormen, and juvenile clientel.

If you don't wear bright red lippy, boob tubes, or 'box fresh' Nike trainers, there is little for you here other than a cheap yet tasteless beverage.

The Queens Head, Wokingham

Odd little place - a mix of old fellas with dogs, and younger 20-somethings enjoying a beverage or two.

Very quiet in general; good to turn up to with a close buddy for a catch up, but you won't be entertained outside of the people you are with. Extremely annoying locals who perch unsympathetically at the bar, tutting if you try and get served over them.

Nice outside area with TV, heaters and shelter accomodating rugby games, and the odd football match.

Try your hand at 'Aunt Sally' - it's not as rude as it sounds.

Molly's Millars, Wokingham

The quality of your experience depends very much on the time you arrive. Before 5pm, it's quite cheerful, if a little crass. Food and beer is cheap, and it seems friendly enough.

After 8pm though, it's all change. Bouncers show up, youths crowd over pool tables, dreadful disco's, fights, trouble and mess. This is the place under 18's go to have drinking competitions and then hit each other.

Good or bad, this is not a 'pub'. It's more like a theme sports bar - awful, loud decor, TV's everywhere you look blaring football or tragic chart music.

If you are older than 21, and don't listen to 50 Cent, I suggest another venue.

The Hope and Anchor, Wokingham

Always had an up and down history - at one point this really could have been a pub to have been proud of.

These days it's either completely empty, or full of fights. Has had a number of drug problems too, and as for the beer; well - 50% chance you will get a flat pint.

Shame.

The Three Brewers, Wokingham

This pub can be very up and down. On the one hand it can be a very welcoming, lively and hillarious little boozer, with characters right out of some bizare film. Good banter, a real feel of comeradery and a place you could call a favourite.

However, on other nights you could walk in and not recognise the place. Young and brash teenagers, swearing and agressive language, and no recognisable faces.

It's more often good than not, but the first pint is often 'the tester' to see if you will stay or go.

Broad Street Tavern, Wokingham

The 'Tav' is a very awkward shaped pub, little rooms with very little seating, and the bar in the corridor making it difficult getting in and out, getting served or going to the toilet.

Seems policy here to have only one member of staff even on busy nights, and very expensive to drink in.

In the summer however, this place becomes an attractive proposition. A very large garden and good quality garden, frequent BBQ's, and an outside bar (that unfortunately only occasionally is open).

Poor layout and slow service make this a bit of a let down.
