Large bar area with a kind of function room off at the side. Garden at the back. Olde-worlde style decor with a mix of furniture. Just three beers on - Brakspear's Bitter' Oxford Gold and Hobgoblin. My Bitter was OK but really nothing to write home about. Another visit will be required - on a busier evening probably. mcroyal - 8 Sep 2013 14:16 |
Nice pint of Brakspears Best with Hobgoblin, Oxford Gold,Morrelles Varsity also available. Nice friendly Pub with music, Secluded Garden, TV's Piano and Bar Billiards. Range of comfortable seating including leather chairs and Sofas. Well worth a visit. will be back soon. Bitter_Man - 10 May 2013 23:12 |
Thanks to a sudden and unexpected change in my domestic history, I find Wokingham is now a kind of "Home from Home". I normally live in York, which is, of course, "Heaven on Earth" so far as good pubs are concerned, but I do find myself looking for a "local" when in Royal Berkshire. The Hope and Anchor (along with several others) might just make the grade! Ditchcrawler - 9 Jan 2013 20:43 |
This pub is not bad but decor is looking a bit tired and toilets need a serious refurbish. The best bit about this pub is its garden which is superb. fender100 - 23 Jul 2012 14:30 |
Hatie and Reid have done a good job, so much so they are the CAMRA branch runner up for Pub of the Year. Well done! They both make you feel welcome. Held society meeting to the left of the bar which did not hold up custom to the front bar or the garden. Beers available on my visit were Banks - Sunbeam, Ringwood - Boondoggle, Wychwood - Hobgoblin and one other. Beer served well too. Beer_Spotter - 30 Apr 2012 13:06 |
