Still the best in the Old Town, however have recently been in there and it has been over-run with the cockatoo hair boys who look about 12 were in but are quite amusing to watch, god I feel old! Good music Fridays when the DJ is in and fantastic staff. Great atmosphere when big games are on and loads of TV screens so you can usually see oneof them even if it's packed. Good sun trap in the car park in the summer!

Now converted to 2Dry - very expensive but a full range of wines and lovely Erdinger beer complete with nice courtyard in the back!

If you dare to wear trainers after 7pm the boucers are rude and won't let you in - WHY?!!! None of the other pubs in the Old Town have a trainer rule, how ridiculous! We went in 'sans trainers' the other week (My friend's celebration so had to - I boycott it at all costs usually) and were served after a very long wait by unhelpful bar staff, found a table which was covered in rubbish, drinks and general stickiness, and had a good look around thinking that it wasn't a place I would come back to again even without the trainer rule in all honesty - the place has started to get shabby already even though it hasn't been open for long. It's not just me being fussy here - other people I know have had worse experiences there however I just don't like bars where you can't wear trainers!

The Roebuck Inn, Stevenage
Frequented by regulars and hotel guests this pub is a bit like someones front room; it's quite small and dark and always smoky. In the winter they have an open fire which makes it quite cosy. Quiz night once a month on a Sunday, don't take it too seriously though, especially if 'Bob' is in! Problems with the beer recently - it seems to be awful all the time, the glasses were blamed to start with but it still hasn't been resolved, I think a major overhaul is in order, not that it seems to worry the regular crowd too much, gives them something to talk about!
