A good place to visit two good quality ales on when I last visited plesant company and good food available for lunchtimes. Can be busy on Friday and weekend evenings - live music. Mainly a locals pub during the day.

The Red Lion is really a restaurant that serves a wide selection of real ales, with a quality of cellar management that puts to shame some of the more traditional pubs in the area. The food is of high quality at a reasonable price. Service is good, but be warned in the evenings it does get very busy so the waiting staff are very rushed, but always polite and jovial. There are areas for drinkers to sit, but the majority of the place is set out for eaters. I would recommend a visit, and to those who state that the food prices seem high, I would confirm that they are high compared to McDonalds, but then we dont go to McDonalds for real food, do we?

The Star and Garter, Colnbrook
Another traditional pub, good atmosphere, friendly bar staff, and customer base mainly locals. Real ale of good quality, food looks good when I have observed orders coming from the kitchen, with generous helpings. A real warm and friendly atmosphere has always existed when I have visited.

I will admit that I am biased as this has been my local for the last 25 years. I have known it through both good and bad times, and believe me during the 1980s there were some bad times. Now it is a traditional local pub that caters for all types of customers. The beer selection is wide and is of good quality, with at least 2 real ales on tap. There is a large menu ranging from snacks to full meals, normally available throughout the day. The bar staff are friendly, and the owner or his wife are always on site. It is well worth a visit - us regulars, who comprise of local residents and contractors working at Heathrow, will always afford a welcome and a chat to any strangers who visit.
P.S. Unlike the other contributors I do not do this anonymously!

Warm friendly atmosphere, regulars are friendly, excellent food, real ales (3 usually available) are well kept. (Landlord is a real ale drinker). Large well maintained garden with childrens play area. New management since May 2007 and the change in the place is really kicking in now.

The Five Bells, Horton
Still is a pleasant venue to visit, ales kept in good condition, still Green King (not surprising for a Green King tied premises), well appointed wine list. Food is well prepared, basic home styled menus of generous proportions. Overall a pub with a friendly and warm atmosphere, catering for families and having a large car park and a garden for children to play.
