Tried to go to this pub three weeks ago but it was closed at 9pm,so we went to the black horse instead and it was great, but tried the red lion again and boy what a dissapointment, food was bland, service was if they could be bothered.Chef and brewer has gone down hill dramatically, this used to be good but the last two or three years has fallen appart, bad management i guess! mrslandingham - 11 Feb 2012 20:07 |
We have been this pub quite a number of times since July 2009,and we have never been Disappointed, the staff are really friendly and remember us when we go in,the manager,is transfer to the crooked billet down the road, by the roundabout, when we went too in July, Well..... It was not crowded, yet we was just ready to leave, being we At wait a good 30mins for our food,(there was only 2starters&2burgers) we decide to have 2 scones tea, which came with spot of tea,the Sugar bowl was chip, and the scone was very difficult to butter with out breaking up,the said she at cut 4 before we got ours, I just hope Dale will turn this pub around like he did to the red lion ljtaylor2001uk - 2 Sep 2011 20:19 |
since that battleaxe sally left this pub has completely turned around under the leadership of dale. That guy has worked hard too turn this place around after the awful state sally left it in. Has employed a whole new set of staff with emphasis on service and a balance between experience and youthfullness scouserscum - 9 Oct 2010 14:46 |
Walked in a 2.00pm today, went up to the deserted bar and waited. About four minutes later, a blonde middle-aged woman dressed in black walked by with dirty plates and said 'Hello'. Still no-one behind the bar so I walked all around the pub and the garden and then returned to the bar. After another fruitless wait of a couple of minutes I left and went to the Black Horse - I recommend that you do the same. CommanderJim - 18 Aug 2009 16:11 |
Picturesque little country pub which serves great food. Yes they are busy at weekends but does not seem to hinder food delivery times, and I eat there regularly. Menu changes each season, at least 4 times a year, plus lots of special nights (eg. game food, fish etc). Can always get a beer when you want without waiting too long. Current staff have really upped the service level. Beer garden also allows dogs now with a new gate entrance to the garden. mikeguk - 16 Oct 2008 08:45 |
