The White Horse of Hermitage, Hermitage

Dropped into this pub for a spot of lunch whilst driving south via an 'off the beaten track' route.
Instant friendly greeting - admittedly there weren't many people inside as it was a sunny September Friday lunchtime and most were on the rear (covered) patio.
The interior immediately struck us as clean and bright.
Lots of real ales on tap, didn't have time to determine whether all of them were both working and drinkable.
The food was enjoyable with lots of local produce being utilised.
We'd only planned to have a 'lite bite' but were tempted by the menu into staying for something more substantial.
After starters, we had a venison steak and a lamb burger which we both really enjoyed.
We'll definitely be visiting the White Horse again.

The Empress of Blandings, Copythorne

Options are a bit 'chainey' and the quality (and temperature) of the food deteriorated during early 2006 but they now seem to have sorted out the gremlins and we've had some really pleasant meals there since late 2006. We usually go on a Friday evening and it's strange how on some Fridays the place is fairly heaving and on other Fridays it's remarkably quiet. The staff are always pleasant, efficient and friendly. The conveniences are always spotless and nicely appointed.

The Hare, Linslade

Good drinking hole.
Regular turnover of guest real ales.
The landlord (Jim) is friendly and knows his beers.
