Now a blubeckers expensive naff place. 1.45 for a bowl of peanuts...i,e bowl was more like a coaster. 3 a pint for cheapest lager. Carry on into woolhampton there is better choice a few hundred yards away if you can get across the river bridge and the railway crossing without 15 minutes wait.

Steer clear move on to better pubs, especially avoid in the summer, full of pikeys who put their untaxed transit vans in front of your car, despite loads of other parking spaces, and then watch them hurl abuse at you cos you have had the audacity to politely ask them to move. Where shiny soles otherwise you will stick to the carpet.

Much improved since I went in there in the autumn though it was a wednesday afternoon rather than a saturday when we went before. The tables were cleaned and the barman knew who was next to be served. It does annoy me when people find a gap at the bar and think they should be served next. Nice meal and lovely german wheat beer which was cold.

The Maidenhead Inn, Basingstoke
Been here loads of times as its the cheapest in Basingstoke. Service is up and down, why cant bar staff observe whos next and why cant punters look to see whos in front of them when they go to the bar. Usuall array of down and outs frequenting the bar but otherwise ok.

Ok pub next to two others. Dirty tables and took an eternity to get served. Good selection of ales though. Would go back again to see if had improved.

Went there last october with my g/f and mother found a sticky table that I had to clean myself. Barman looked confused, not embarrased when I asked for a cloth to clean the table. Ordered 3 meals (mixed grill/rump/sirloin steak. After waiting 45 minutes I enquired as to where our meal was, was told they would be coming out 1 by 1 over the next 15 minutes. When I stated any chance of having them all together so we could esat together the girl gave me one of those your lucky your getting it looks. Not located in the best part of blackpool usual crowd of drunken misfits, one in fleetwood is better if you fancy an hour on the tram

The Red Lion, Mortimer West End
Went there for new years eve paid 50 for the privilige of the evening disco for me and my g/f, buffet and fireworks. I work shifts so dont always get this night off. Advertised professional DJ he didnt turn up but we got our money back even though they had our number they could have rang us to tell us so. We paid 5 for a buffet that fitted on a small table, landlady said food ready but couldnt be bothered to uncover, no meat sandwiches so all I got was a sausage roll and crisps for my money. Her attitude all evening was that most of the customers were a pain and she was very clicky with some. Hello shut the pub down and dont open if you have this attitude. The young staff though that evening were excellent. Not recommended if you want a friendly pub

Stayed in weymouth last year and went to this pub everyday for a meal. Even decided to have breakfast there on our last day. It was packed at 09.30. Proper service even for a wetherspoons pub, as they actually employed enough staff. Tables were cleaned as immediately the tables were vacated. Great guest ales and even in our short stay they had new guest ales everyday. Staff work hard and are very friendly even know who is next to be served. Best wetherspoons pub I have ever been in and the locals told me they were voted best wetherspoons pub in the UK last year.

What can I say, was on holiday locally and I made the trip to look this pub up having read the reviews here, and boy was I not dissapointed....I have wondered what living in the past was like and this is an experience I will never forget, lovely friendly staff who treated us like friends not customers, and on the 2nd night we visited the people within the establishment had travelled several miles just to have one pint. Lovely real ales from the casket. Shame I live 130 miles away...highly recommended.
