Grumpster you seem to complain about every pub between Crawley and Guildford. As an ex-Publican whose pub at the time was in the CAMRA top 10, I have always run a pub where children are welcome especially at lunch time. Coldharbour is a tiny village, there are no other shops or pubs in the village so locals have to drive. We took our kids for a meal in The Plough at LUNCHTIME during the week when people like you won't be in there. It was 1.30pm when the Landlady picked a fight with a customer that was so aggressive that a lot of people walked out without paying their bill. At least we paid and our kids were extremely well behaved. Who the hell do you think you are to tell me that I can't take my kids into a pub at lunchtime. Oh by the way what's pizzaland a child friendly venue

I always stay near to this pub when in Manchester as this is a gem of a pub. Just love JW Lees beer and the choice of all the ales are always so well kept. Love the staff, really friendly, the tables are clean and are cleared quickly. The food is really to die for and I do not say that often. The downside is that this lovely pub closes early in the evening on a weekday which is sad as they could have so much business from the local hotels if they advertised in them.

Blackcrowe, another spot on review, this pub is in total decline and believe me if I had the money I would make the owners an offer they would not be able to refuse to sell up and go away. The staff are rude beyond belief and the 'regulars' are unfriendly and very anti-social. People that have been barred from the Parrot at Forest Green and other pubs/social clubs nearby are predominate in this pub as the management value their business. The language and behaviour of the 'regular's' is seriously bad. I had to take my kids outside whilst the landlady and a 'regular' had an argument that nearly turned into violence. It's my 'local' pub when we visit the in-law's and they like it weekday lunch time but we avoid it like the plague and go to the Kings Head at Holmbury.

Ha ha fullbelly well said. This pub has a really horrible atmosphere and the management is extremely poor. My friend was looking at having her wedding there this year and she loved it on paper. We took her & her partner there for a drink and she soon changed her mind when she experienced reality. We waited over 20 minutes for a drink as the bar staff served regulars and ignored everyone else. There were many complaints that afternoon especially from people wanting a pre-lunch drink.

Only been to this pub a couple of times since Sarah took over and have to say that she has done a fab job turning an okay pub into a sterling one. Ales and cider are extremely well kept with a good choice. It's a lovely little pub and the local's have always been friendly to strangers. I totally agree with Sarah's policy about lager, it's a real ale/cider pub which she passionate about. I have never had a bad pint and nor have I ever found Sarah to rude. We used to go there when we lived in Capel years ago as the Crown was such a horrible pub. The Royal Oak then was stuck in a time warp with the strangest landlord I have ever come across. For those that don't drive, there is a bus that stops at the south end of Capel village which runs between Horsham and Dorking. It's only a 10 minute walk to the this gem of a pub.

Probably the worst Wetherspoon's I have ever been to. The place was a tip on a Saturday afternoon and there was no food (the only reason for going in there) as the chef was ill. The beer and cider was less than average and there was a severe lack of bar staff, the ones 'working' were extremely rude. This pub is marginally better than the White Hart which is one of worst pubs I have been in. I would much rather go to The Old Punchbowl.

Always given this pub a wide berth for no real reason even though we only live a few miles away. However, we met friends there for a drink a few months ago and I am kicking myself for not going there sooner. The staff are so friendly, the ale is outstanding and they have a great choice. The Managers/Owners are so customer orientated that we were made to feel so welcome. They had a few guest ales on the pump and when we couldn't make up our minds, the Landlady gave us a taster of each without hesitation. Talking to people that had eaten there, the food is extremely good even though some said it was a bit pricey. Looking at the menu, I saw that all the food is locally sourced. Whilst the Lamb Inn is our local and our favourite, I would say the Holmbush is a close second.

I have only been to The Norfolk's public bar once for a drink but I have to say I really enjoyed myself. The beer was good and the regulars were really friendly. We got chatting to a couple and then we were treated like an old friend. This is a really good community pub but I agree about the TV being very loud. The bar is large enough to play pool without hitting people by accident. The only criticism is that there was one bar man serving on a very busy Saturday afternoon. I would definitely go again.

We live a few miles from this pub but have never been there as it advertises itself a as members only pub. Tonight we had to stop at the shops beside the pub and so we thought we would try the pub out. We couldn't get in, the main bar was empty and there were 3 customers in side bar playing pool. There were more staff than customers at 9.00pm on a Saturday night. Really comment on the actual inside of the pub as no one would let us in even though we waved through the window at the bored bar staff. I honestly do not think this pub is brimming with atmosphere.

The Stepping Stones, Westhumble
The beer and food is absolutely to die for. Sorry that people are peed off with the car park management but there are a lot of people that use their car park when they are walking and don't use the pub. Most country pubs close at lunch time on weekdays. So sad that people leave negative reviews when don't check the pub is open when they want to visit...

Plough at Blackbrook, Blackbrook
So agree Goosegog and anotherpintplease, this pub was once great but the rude manager's & staff made this a not a nice pub to visit. The beer was really horrible and the bar staff were more interested in playing bar games than serving us.

Jemhart, you have hit the nail on the head, There is not a warm welcome at The Plough. We are not walkers but locals. When we ordered a meal for 4 people and requested tap water we were told it was more expensive that the bottled water. The staff are extremely rude as are the so called regulars that the landlords prefer who apparently spend more money as they drink 4-5 days a week. This pub has a serious attitude problem, I wish I had the money to buy them out and make the Plough a great pub again

Sorry to all those that have posted negative comments, this pub/Restaurant is a little gem with great food and fab staff. Yes it used to a Beefeater, well I would never have gone there when it was as we had so many bad experiences. The beer/cider is well kept and the food is to die for. We hated this place when it was a Beefeater so please try it out as an independent and see the change

This is a really good country pub with a great fish pond in the garden although the front patio is on a very busy main road. The Sunday roast prices have always been visible on the specials board. Considering they serve local produce I think the price of their 2 course Sunday meal is good value. The ale is extremely well kept and the staff are attentive. This pub is a little treasure

This pub could be a goldmine but they chose to be obnoxious to people that don't want to eat. A a local I heard that that the Husband had health problems but that doesn't excuse the very rude landlady and as locals we are now boycotting

Went there with an open mind in January 2010 considering the average reviews. I have to say that I agree with the majority of the negative comments. The bar staff ignore people at the bar, the ale was not the best and the cider was off. The bar staff were extremely rude when we returned the cider. We had booked a table in the restaurant 4 weeks before but they had no record of our booking which is strange as they rang to confirm a few days before.

The Kings Head, Holmbury St Mary
Love this pub, so friendly and the ales kept well. Never eaten there. I just so love the welcome from the staff and locals

I am a regular and just love this pub. The ale is so well cared, they will always give you a taste if you are not sure of which one to have!! The atmosphere is fab an the food is fab.

Harvey's are a great brewery but the White Hart does absolutely nothing to enhance their great reputation. As ex-bar staff I know the 'cask' ales are not well kept. It would be good that Harvey's buy a pub away from the town centre with a landlord who knows how to keep real ale.

I agree with a lot of the comments posted. I have been to the Running Horses several times and I am confused, is it a pub or restaurant. We went there for a company Xmas lunch a few years ago and it was horrendous. The waiting staff were fine to start with until a large party of local Parish Council members turned and the staff then became very inattentive to our party of 12. We waited ages for them to clear our table and we had to go to the bar to ask for drinks. We have been there for a drink on our way home several times and the first question the bar staff ask is are you dining with us tonight. When you say no, they walk off and serve the diners!! We waited nearly 20 minutes to be served the last time we went there and we walked out. The beer is not that well kept, there loads of pubs we can visit that have a great cellar.

Fab pub, great kept beer. Food was great including the Steak and Tanglefoot Ale pie which was to die for. Two complaints, the service was extremely slow and the front doors were propped open which made the pub cold. When we asked for the doors to closed they refused saying that it would inconvenience customers coming into the pub. I have never been so cold eating a meal as I have there.

OMG what an absolutely horrible pub. We booked a family function there and I was told by the staff on arrival that the buffet had been on the table for over 4 hours. There was no way that I was serving this buffet to my guests. Never again, the beer is crap, the service is crap and if I had know it had changed hands I would never have booked our do. The staff are really unresponsive to people waiting at the bar as their Indian restaurant takes priority. Avoid this place

Sara, I am a local and I am sorry to hear of your financial problems BUT your pub is overpriced and I think you need to come down from your aspirations of being a gastro pub and become a good priced local as you will get so much more business
