Good pub and good beer. Worth a visit if your in the area. On a historical note I think this was the pub Lady Lucan ran to for help after escaping from her husband. Can any expert confirm this or correct me?

Decent enough Youngs pub, beer well kept. But 3.06 for a pint of Guiness?!!! Not in this lifetime pal!

I've been here a few times over the years for a cheap quick one on the way to somewhere else, but it never gets any better, only worse. If you like starting fights with complete strangers for no particular reason, then you will find many like minded enthusiasts here.

I'm glad to see Im not the only one who remembers this place in its previous incarnation! In the days of the late eighties when a really good pint of draught Guiness was'nt easy to come by in London, the old cross did a great pint. It had a nice old style charm despite the touristy location and an interesting history. Hard to belive what is is now.
Although I would'nt disagree with most of the negative comments below, the range of bottled beers isn't bad and the downstairs area is quite comfortable.

Very unusual and eccentric pub a little off the beaten track by the Edgeware Road. lot's of pubs have memorobilia which is generally pretty naff, but here whats on display is extensive and genuinley interesting. It has the feel of a museum although by no means a large place. The plaques on the bar commemorating regulars from years gone by are a nice touch and I can only assume that the current or previous landlord had extensive show business connections given the amount of signed photos around. Theres a great photo of Oliver Read and John Hurt beering it up in the bar area from some years back.

Surley this is more a less a stall within the Borough Market isn't it? Unless they have another outlet in the vicinity I don't know about. There certainly doesn't seem to be a specific "bar" area within the market outlet that I know. Still, it does sell a great range of bottled beers from all over Britain and around the world, with an extensive range from the wonderful St Peters Brewery including their magnificent Honey Porter.(Good on draught but stunning from the bottle). Bar or not it's well worth a visit.

The Catford Bridge Tavern, Catford
I used to come here before going to the now flattened dog track, so I've been in here a fair few times over the years and all in all it's a pretty good pub. Yeah, a few dodgy geezers about doing dodgy deals but this is a friendly atmospheric place and not as threatening as some new comers who don't know it might think. Used from time to time by South Londons various football tribes on match days but I've never seen any touble in here.

Trafalgar Freehouse, South Wimbledon
A wonderful back street local. Small but perfect, great beer, great clientele.

Could have been a great pub but the refurb a few years ago put paid to that. Now a sterile pool hall where meatheads go to beat each other up.

Anyone who can get through an hour in this hell hole deserves a purple heart.

Formerly a grotty dump full of old soaks. Now a refurbished dump full of young soaks and apprentice gangsters. This place is just awaiting it's first shooting.

Along with the old Mistress P's this was the best and least pretentious pub in the area. Now with Mistress P's gone it's this place that flies the flag alone if you want a decent down to earth boozer around Clapham Old Town. Good beer and efficient service in whats fast becoming a dying style of establishment.

Can't deny that the refurb is plush, neat and tasteful, but it's not really a pub anymore. All the charm that made it what it was has gone. Pity.

Still worth a visit and the range of ales was pretty good on my last trip to the MP recently.(The first for some years.) However, much as I love the market and it probably has given the pub a new lease of life, the consequences are overcrowding and the inevitable touristy trappings. But, that said, the MP is still more worth than it's trouble.

Lady St Helier, Morden
Depressing and dirty but far less dangerous than the Tooting and Balham atrocities.
