The Gardeners Arms, Lewes

Called in here last Saturday with two mates ( one of whom is an exiled northerner ) and partook of some excellent dark beers and porters. A real boozer, with friendly and efficient staff, and the locals seem a friendly bunch. Heres another northerner who will be paying it a visit next time Im in this part of Sussex.

The Blue Bell, York

Called in here last Saturday as part of a real ale pub crawl. If you enjoy a friendly welcoming boozer serving a wide range of spot on ales then this is the place for you. Smashing time guaranteed.

The Stackpole Inn, Stackpole

Ventured into this welcoming Inn last Easter whilst on a walking break and sampled a few pints of excellent real ale. I did not have a meal but the food looked to be well cooked and of ample proportions that satisfied many visitors whilst I was there. The staff were courteous and professional whilst never being condescending. Very highly recommended.

Manvers Arms, Adwick Upon Dearne

Clean and welcoming pub with a strong reputation for good food.It has a smallish bar area in which there is limited seating and two large rooms for the eating of meals. It usually has two real ales on, one being Tim Taylors Landlord which is always very well kept and occasionally "spot on". Well worth a visit.

The No 2 Refreshment Rooms (Under the Clock), Cleethorpes

Called in here a couple of weeks ago one Sunday afternoon, my second visit. Clean and comfortable surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere lacking any pretensions. Some decent real ales.Worth a visit if you enjoy a peaceful pint.

The Fox Inn, Lutterworth

Called in enroute from down south back up north. Sampled a very good couple of pints of Tim Taylors Landlord and a chille con carne which was delicious. A clean and welcoming pub which is well worth a visit and easily accesible, being just off the M1.Luckily a mate was driving, hence the beers.

The Three Legged Mare, York

Clean, comfortable, and friendly efficient service with a great range of real ales. The York Brewerys "Guzzler" and "Stonewall" were in excellent form. You really must visit this boozer whilst in York.

The Maltings, York

Visited York yesterday, sampled the culture and a few beers, as you do. Called in on the way back to the rail station and had some really nice ale from the York Brewery. A really nice boozer, but be warned, if you call in after arriving by train, the next time you leave may be to board your returning train. Recommended.

The Griffin Hotel, Attleborough

Friendly and welcoming community inn serving a good selection of ales. Real ale fans should try a pint of the "Wolf" ale which is always on good form and they also had Abbot Ale and IPA.The food looks good too.

The Devonshire Cat, Sheffield

Very good choice of real ales and the staff appeared friendly and attentive. My only gipe was the noise levels, as the predominance of hard surfaces leads to the ampliphication of peoples voices ang general clatter. Apart from that, well recommended.

The Monsal Head Hotel, Monsal Head

Have visited this place several times whilst walking in the area and it never fails to impress. The beers are always on good form and the service is friendly and efficient. The food also looks good and of adequate proportions. The only problem is that at the weekends you may find it difficult to get a table inside due to its well deserved popularity. A big bonus in winter months is a smashing open log fire. Enjoy.

The Dewdrop Inn, Wick

Visited this pub just over a year ago and found it to be a welcoming boozer with a few real ales, and as Uncle_Dunkel says "very unpretentious". I enjoyed it very much and so will you if you wish to enjoy a pint of real ale and have a chat with your mates or the missus, or indeed old man.

Great little boozer with a good choice of real ales and served by friendly bar staff in a relaxing atmosphere.

The Bankers Draft, Sheffield

A reasonable Weatherspoons venue. It seemed quite clean and had a good choice of real ales and the service was surprisingly prompt for a Saturday evening. However, I was disappointed that there seemed to be few "Sorry, not available" ales to try!

The Woolpack, Slad

A gem of a pub in gorgeous countryside, a good choice of real ales and the food looked good too.Friendly bar staff make this a pub not to be missed if you venture into this part of Gloucestershire.

The Twelve Bells, Cirencester

Great choice of beers in a real boozer.Jovial Landlord and a good atmosphere, free of knuckleheads and over powering jukebox noise.Although I didnt indulge, the food looked very tasty and of generous proportions. Highly recommended. Will be calling again on my next visit to Cirencester.
