The White Swan, Twickenham

When I die I want to be stuffed and propped up at a table at this place wearing a Quins shirt. And if possible a fresh pint of Naked Ladies to be placed in front of me each day.

The White Cross, Richmond

Over-priced tourist trap that we all keep going back to simply because it's the done thing to sit by the river and watch the world go by. The beer is Youngs-by-Numbers and the food nothing to write home about but hell, Location Location Location.

Of course if you keep an eye on the tide tables it is possible to get stranded inside, but aside from this novelty there's far better places to drink.

All Bar One, Richmond

Now under major refurbishment, and the All Bar One sign has been taken down so I guess it's going to re-open as something more useful. Or more probably another bland chain.

O'Neills, Richmond

CLOSED! And good riddance.....

On the upside it's under refurbishment, reverted to the original name of The Railway Tavern and under the stewardship of Nicholsons. I'm hoping that happier times lay ahead for this place.

The Peat Spade, Longstock

Stayed here for Saturday evening before a days fishing and was served a crackingly good meal. The wine list is excellent, being a Londoner I'm used to being fleeced on the mark-up but the offerings were not that far off retail.

Nice selection of gins and single malts too. Can't wait to return

The Watermans Arms, Richmond

A remarkable little gem of a pub, the long serving landlord quite frankly deserves a knighthood for both the quality of the beer and the quality of the welcome. The Naked Ladies is I think superior to that served at the brewery.

An outstanding boozer

The Duke, Richmond

I feel lukewarm about this place. As others have pointed out it's trying to be a gastro but then until we discovered the rejuvenated Britannia it was our spot for a post-commute or pre-theatre drink. It's not a bad place, it's just we think The Britannia has the edge in service, food and atmosphere.

One Paradise Road, Richmond

Now operating as a tapas/wine bar called Ricon and it's a gem, a vast improvement on the previous Paradise operation that had become a Cougartown mutton market.

Whilst there's a limited selection of Spanish beers we can work on the basis all Spanish beers taste the same so what's the problem? The winelist is excellent and at the top end of pricelist there's some real bargins to be had. The tapas too is very good. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Man cannot live by ale alone and Ricon is an exciting addition to the Richmond circuit. The owners and staff deserve to succeed with this offering.

Bar Estilo, Richmond

Now known as 'Bills'. Not a drinkers establishment, the wife has reported the food was okay but it isn't worth a special trip.

Coco's Cocktail and Wine Bar, Richmond

A little slice of Essex transplated in to quiet sleepy Richmond. Probably a better bet than the awful awful awful Be@1 across the road. Seems to run a dress code of bubblegum pink lippy and having your arse and tits hanging out of whatever Primark spangly number you've squeezed yourself in to.

The Pitcher and Piano, Richmond

The best location in Richmond and the worst bar. Nothing positive to comment on, the beer's awful, and the service is worse. I would only consider drinking bottled beer here in the rare event of actually getting served.

It does serve a purpose of being a wanker-trap and keeping the kiddies out of some of the nicer places in town.

The Ailsa Tavern, Twickenham

The pub I regard as my Local despite having a number of closer establishments in Isleworth. The Shepherds Neame is always the best I've had outside of Kent and there's a beautiful collection of malts behind the bar. The food has improved considerably in the last few weeks - I think they have a new chef on.

St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

Nice selection of well kept ales and a couple of artisan ciders & lagers, but as others have commented, bloody expensive even for the area. Food is overpriced too; we've eaten here twice. The first was in the restaurant and the kitchen burnt our steaks, however also had burgers in the bar and these were good (and at £13 per head should be!)

Runs a good pub quiz on a Sunday, the main draw for us, too be honest there are better pubs in the area for a quiet drink
