The White Lion, Barnet

looks nice from outside with the flowers and all that but inside was a let down. pricey, unwelcoming and disinterested bar staff. won't be back.

Ye Olde Monken Holt, Barnet

came here for a quick drink before dinner across the road. very nice pub. quite dark and cosy with good atmosphere. garden out the back. it got quite busy and a bit loud but it was nice to see regulars rolling in and being greeted by first names. quite rare these days. ales were first class and the wife had a reasonable glass of wine. food looked good so might come back to try that as chez gerard opposite was bloody awful

The Haven, Whetstone

'the place to be' for the rich folk that live locally and don't want to go into town to show off. manager/owner (?) was rude and sitting around looking grumpy. its a bar and restaurant so best to stick to wine. certainly not cheap and full of mutton dressed as lamb types. well they have to go somewhere i suppose.

i-bar, Whetstone

they don't seem to know what to do with this place. used to drink here when i lived locally and it was the bull & butcher. since then it's had lots of different names but nothing seems to work. inside is very trendy now, lots of white and leather, but this doesn't really fit whetstone's drinkers. if it was turned back into a proper pub i would return but can't see that happening. also they need to stick with one thing with the food. they've had everything from thai to a crepe van and now pub grub, it's just confusing. whetstone doesn't need a nightclub, appeal to the real drinkers please.

The Griffin, Whetstone

good for a quick drink before dinner in one of whetstone high road's many restaurants. garden is nice in the summer but i do find some of the bar staff a bit stroppy. not rude just not as polite as they could be. seem disinterested which makes me worry about the care they take in the cellar and with the pumps.

The Joiners Arms, Finchley

cheap but lacks character, doesn't feel very welcoming or like somewhere you might want to linger. also noticed the 'tang' to the pint of Pride, not pleasant.

The Finchley Tavern, North Finchley

popped in before crossing over to the arts depot one evening. seems like a popular place, quite busy for a week night. staff were friendly and the prices are lower than other pubs in the area. i would go back.

The Old Wheatsheaf, Enfield

seems bigger now they've shuffled the furniture about and the lower bar does feel more welcoming after the refurb. landlord runs the place well, i've never had a bad pint here. the prices are higher than others in enfield but this is a case of you get what you pay for.
