UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! What a great change to the pub. Gone is the miserable old landlord who considered customers a nuicance. Some months ago we had our worst ever Sunday lunch experience here, but we popped in about 3pm on a Saturday and were made very welcome by the new landlord. Very friendly, knows about his beer, allows children in, and to top it all wifi. My wife and mother ate there for lunch midweek and gave the food the thumbs up. We shall try it for dinner soon but we are pleased to see it retaining "pub" status.

What a pity. As a local resident and user of the old Home Cottage I was looking forward to the pub being smartened up a bit and made a bit more family friendly. What we have is something which is trying to be a pub and trying to be a restaurant and failing with both. The food is very expensive, all the extras are charged separately, and for goodness sake, if order roast pork on a Sunday I expect crackling, not soggy fat on top. Having said that the quality of the food is good and the beer, whilst again is over the top price wise, is served with a smile.
Although I live a few hundred yards from the HC, I will walk further to find a "proper pub", of which there are plenty in Redhill if you look for them.

The Inn On The Pond, Nutfield
Great location, especially in summer, good beer, ok food, friendly staff.
Massively overpriced beer and food and the wine list prices are ridiculous.
This does not stop us from going, very nice to walk there from Redhill, in the summer sit in the garden, in the winter by the logburner. If it was cheaper we would go more often.
