Pub is up for sale apparently, fingers crossed it will reopen as a pub. Skinners Brewery sold the place a few years back and it was a free house for a couple of years (still stocking Skinners). Anyone local have any news?

Pretty much the last authentic pub in Newquay, good atmosphere, beer and live music. Metal/rock posters everywhere add to the feel of the place.
St Austell's HSD usually on. Staff are switched on and friendly.

Another Newquay pub has bitten the dust I'm afraid, no longer trading as a pub (as at late-June 07). Up for let, but think the last pint has been served here.

Was closed in late-June 07, sadly I think it has gone for good. Money from the sale to be ploughed back into the brewery according to Cornwall Camra.
One of the last of a dying breed of authentic pubs in Newquay.

Good pub, one of the best in the area. Nice lighting, comfy seats and decent music without it being too loud.
A couple of decent Hampshire beers (Hole Hearted and Maypole Mild I think, from Oakleaf) on my visit, one other real ale, the name of which escapes me.
Two very attractive barmaids, service was fine midweek, haven't been for a while at weekends though.

The Guide Dog, Bevois Valley
Certainly the best pub in Portswood/Bevois Valley, possibly the best pub in Southampton. South Hants Camra pub of the year for 2007 and 2008. The Swift One (Bowman Ales) was superb, Hampshire Beer of the Year 2008.
