I was on a 390 bus around 3 months ago with two nutters. We're going to the MONKEY they said over and over again. Not having been there, I have no idea what it's like. marksamujels - 17 Nov 2010 02:20 |
Should be called the Drum & Dog Basket as it's like sitting in one. The place stinks of a wet dog. Wipe your feet on the way out. Stoned_Moses - 6 Feb 2010 16:18 |
As a young Northern Irish man visiting an uncle in Archway London i did feel a bit scared of going out at night. But that all changed when i walked through the doors of Drum and Monkey. This year was the second year running that i have been in this pub i will recomend this pub to everyone nomatter what creed u may r it is a special Irish pub: Friendly, Homely,Warm and Welcoming. This is by far the best pub in london Prices are cheap, service is fantastic and the landlord is one of the nicest person i have ever met in my life. He remembered me from the previous year and straight away set me and my mates a drink up and talked the night away to us and also the other customers. For sports this but is also unreal i was looking to watch the Gaelic and my mate was looking to watch the Man Utd match and some others were watching the Golf all within a small pub. As a drinks rep for a distribution company i have seen a lot of pubs and some very good ones and it is unbelievable how good this pub really is. Not many can say that they spent some of their honeymoon in the Drum and Monkey. Forty years ago, when Maurice and Bridie ran it. Good atmosphere then, even at a time when paddies were keeping a little on the quiet side because of the troubles. Called in ten years ago, no customers and a too loud jukebox. Sad! Do the 'Buffs' still meet upstairs? With a bit of luck I will visit the old ghosts in the near future and drink a toast to the Kelly family who did us proud. jimmyk - 30 May 2009 01:48 |
