Popped in here one lunchtime for a quick beer & a bite before going to the theatre opposite. Fairly typical Wetherspoons, it was busy but we were served quickly and the food came quickly too. Some interesting local beers, nice friendly staff as well, couldn't fault it at all. Trequites - 7 Jan 2019 18:48 |
Garbage even by Wetherspoon standards (as in they can't even get the lager/craft ale kegs right). Popular with people who wear HI-VI coats and jackets. Snarling_Mallard - 23 Jun 2018 01:33 |
Long and thinnish bar which was packed when I visited. Yes, there were some very large and noisy people seated near to me whose company I did not want so I got my beers and moved away - several times actually as the place was so busy I had to find a spot without the local oiks being present! That said, the beer range was fine (Teignworthy/Exmoor and others) and it was in good nick. Usual Wetherspoons offerings but quick service this time - they did seem to have enough staff! Sadly I think it is a section of the clientele who let the place down! mcroyal - 22 Jul 2014 12:19 |
This is a perfectly acceptable Wetherspoons in a town which is seemingly devoid of any other decent pubs. just make sure you don't sit on the table in the corner opposite the bar which seems to be commandeered by Barnstaple's pikeys who insist upon a liberal use of expletives at a volume which ensures that they can't not be heard. Busy on a Saturday evening. But I managed to get served quite quickly. The Exmoor Fox was O.K. and the food was as expected from a Weatherspoons. Agree about the poor layout. We managed to squeeze in to a table in the corner, but had to ask the people at the next table to move so we could get to the seats. The table had not been cleaned recently. They appeared to have enough staff on duty. Generally O.K. but think you could do better in Barnstaple. captaineric - 29 Nov 2011 10:20 |
