The Savoy was my final stop on my Monday evening visit to Swindon. It's a large Wetherspoon's, the town's oldest. It's an old cinema set on various levels with plenty of space. Being quite old, it does have a more worn feel than most branches. 15 handpulls serve a good range of ales. Yesterday, these were Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best, Sharp's Doom Bar, Adnams Broadside, Cairngorm Trade Winds, Original Whitstable Brewery Pearl Of Kent, Titanic Captain Smith's, Salopian Darwin's Origin, Jenning's Sneck Lifter, Exmoor Stag, Battledown Saison & White Horse Stable #4. By the time I was leaving, Purple Moose Dark Side of the Moose was also on. As part of the cider festival, they had Weston's Old Rosie, Purbeck Katy Perry & Dandy Dab, Thatcher's Stan's Big Apple, Sandford Orchards Merry Legs, Hunt's Barn Screecher, Malvern Cider Company Malvern Gold, Rich's Farmhouse Cider & Venton's Apple Vice. A decent end to the evening.

Sorry, spent enough time in airport lounges to know that they ain't my favourite places.

That said, the beer/cider is cheap, the range is wide and not badly kept.

Probably the best Spoons in town. Beer range is usually good and the place does have some character (being an old cinema). A fair walk up through the shops from the station but always worth a look in.

25 years ago I used to watch films here, it was just about the only cinema in Swindon, the multi screens are out of the centre nowadays and this is a large JDW, the usual Wetherspoons formula but 16 real beers were on, 6 of them real ciders & perry. Will return.

Been in a couple of times recently. This is a really typical 'spoons, but why oh why does it take so long to get served?? The barstaff are always busy, they all seem to be pouring drinks, but the queue just never goes away.
decent selection of ales (as you'd expect), a couple of handpump ciders (as you'd expect).
For me this is the lesser of the 3 Wetherspoons in the Town centre. Better service and (in my opinion) friendlier staff in the Groves, nicer surroundings in the Sir Dan.
Sorry Saveloy!!
