beer is decent, but no atmosphere, staff and management very unsociable, children not allowed in pub building itself, but are allowed on courtyard. notice outside to say kids allowed in, but landlady says not, (no idea why) Courtyard is untidy, broken flagstones, broken glass on floor. not a nice pub for kids or adults. no food served at all. (apart from crips and nuts) . wont go again. Have been drinking in there since being old enough to drink, was visiting parents for weekend, but wont go again. joannecook2 - 17 Apr 2011 20:42 |
presentable, small town pub. Used to be an M&B "sizzlers" pub. *** outside, a decent sized beer garden and patio face out on to the paved square. This is quite popular in teh summer. *** inside is clean and looked-after. A central bar serves a sizeable public bar on one side, and three lounge areas on the other. The rear one used as a dining area until around 7pm. *** there is a main menu, priced at around 5 a head, then a 2-for-7 menu available mon-fri before 7pm. We tried these and they were quite decent meals for the price. thursdays offer is 2 ribeye steaks and bottle of wine for 15. cask ales are advertised outside, and there is a courage directors pump. However I'm told this has not been used for quite some time. *** verdict: a fair pub, plain but looked after. Meals are decent and well priced. for me, let down by the lack of cask ales. also the staff seemed quite miserable and unfriendly, considering we required 4 meals and drinks, and the place was not busy. a 6 from me. reynard - 16 Jun 2009 13:58 |
