this pub is a regular haunt of ours though i'm not too sure why. lager served in beer /cider glasses that is flat and when you ask for a lager glass you may as well be asking for the world. dont expect prize winning beer cos its not. the place could do with a complete refurb its nothing like the many decent wetherspoons that are available in other town & cities. stopped eating there as the food often comes out cold on cold plates. thegrockles - 3 Jan 2010 22:40 |
Last time freezing beer, this time freezing pub with gales of cold air blowing about further reducing the life expectancy of some of the clientelle. Beer was very good though, barmaid was pleasant-but the barman who served subsequently didn't feel the need to respond when asked why the pub was so cold. These pubs wet their pants about getting into the (wretched) beer guide but why not get your pub right first? an_ecunemical_matter - 3 Nov 2009 18:54 |
Normal McSpoons service is resumed. 2 harassed barpeople,no one waiting their turn and they serving who was nearest. Otter Amber was had but was freezing cold. Barman when less harassed was approached and agreed but couldn't do much. Not worthy of its recent plaudits from the local CAMRA followers. Down pegs. an_ecunemical_matter - 23 Aug 2009 21:27 |
Have been in in the past and it did what wetherspoons says on the tin. However today I must say the welcome and service was good-the staff were part of a friendly banter with the punters-and my sought out beer "Titanic Velvet Curtain" was on and absolutely 10/10. Well done all. an_ecunemical_matter - 26 Apr 2009 21:12 |
It's a Whetherspoons, so you know what you're getting. Stays open until 1am on Fri/Sat with a generally younger crowd then. Range of ales are well kept. bertrude - 5 Mar 2008 08:25 |
