This is a must for food. Excellent variety on the menu and daily specials that will whet your appetite. Service is good, not always fast due to the meals being cooked to order, but well worth the wait during busy season. The pub on a whole is quiet so ideal for relaxation and a family meal Deekay - 10 Apr 2013 13:24 |
...called in when in Sidmouth last week. Pleasant pub with friendly staff, although no great character. Would visit again... MikeClarke - 25 Sep 2012 14:54 |
As a restaurant probably very good - as a pub rather bland - like a previous commentator I just couldn't warm to it - four real ales all much of a muchness - with four pumps I would have expected more variety i.e. a session, a dark, a strong and a light and hoppy. All were in good enough condition though. Thewriter - 7 May 2012 17:02 |
Neat pub with very good food and imaginative guest beer on tap. Friendly and quite cosy, all in all a very decent pub. Oakman100 - 23 Nov 2011 18:58 |
Stopped in Sidmouth on the way home from Dorset last week and thought we'd find a pub for a quick pint and a bite. Walked along the seafront and then up intowards town and found The Anchor. Looked good, tables outside, sun shining, this'll do we thought. Very friendly greeting from from Barlady inside. Ordered drinks. Soft drink for Mrs Gaffer and a choice of Courage Best, (the obligatory) Doom Bar or guest ale which was Flying Scotsmans. I opted for the latter even tho it seemed a bit bizarre drinking scottish ale in Devon. Very nice brew. Fresh Crab Sandwiches for lunch on thick cut malted bread with homemade coleslaw. Divine. All in All a very pleasant pit stop for an hour to sit outside and watch the world go by. Recommended thegaffer - 17 Sep 2011 07:30 |
