Just moved to the area and can say what a nice and friendly welcoming pub be it its staff and customers, usually 2 ales on which the customers decide. Monday - Bingo night 2030 start Tuesday - Cask Ales 2 a pint Usually a live act on at the weekends It seems to be the pub for the over 30s in the village with the Robert Peel attracting the younger crowd. burns20 - 8 Aug 2011 15:01 |
Your review states thet this pub was once run by Bernard Youens, ex Corrie. This is not true. Bernard Popley (his actual name, Youens being his stage name), ran the Victoria Hotel on Higher Walton Road during the 60s. Greg Counsell - 30 Jul 2006 21:42 |
Has sloping floor which makes the bar quite high at one end (presumably as it is near the banks of the Ribble and liable to flooding, used to be run by Bernard Youens (Stan Ogden) from "Corrie",almost opposite where the bloke who formed the Temperance society lived, nice place for a pint on a country walk even though it's on the A6,walk up the hill round the corner and your in the country. bagheas - 4 Apr 2006 16:14 |
