This place doesn't live up to its pretentious look. Fine place for a drink and perhaps a bar nibble but don't eat here. It's way expensive and the service was horrible. We were greeted by a surly head of house that acted as if the place were fully booked. We were sat at a horrible table even tho there were plenty empty. Our food was served in smaller portions than those around us and to be honest even if it were heapping over the plate we both agreed it wasn't good. I ordered the grill fish that was served on the bone with skin on. That's all well and good but no fish knife to it with and no one ever bothered to ask if you needed anything or if the meal were okay. Give it a miss! cyndyl - 9 Aug 2010 16:13 |
The pub is fairly smart and modern looking, having recently undergone a makeover. Plenty of parking and it feels a bit more upmarket than your average village pub/carvery. It still lacks a bit of atmosphere and it never seems very busy when I've been. Bar staff sometimes play the music too loud (they're young and seem to think its a club.) The selection of beers is average but the restaurant looks expensive (and empty). Not been here for a meal so not sure about the quality. I'd say it's probably worth a visit but doesn't start livening up until later. anonymous - 3 Jun 2007 16:57 |
Yep, Nice place, classy surroundings, good food, good portions. Fish and Chips was great. Liked it a lot esp when I went in the summer on the enormous decking. At last, somwhere decent to have a drink and a bite! colinsears - 14 Dec 2006 16:10 |
