After reading the bad reviews on here about the Hare and Hounds I feel I need to say something, I am surprised to read so many negative reviews about the place. We go to the Hare and Hounds on a weekly basis and have had no problems, the food is nice, the portions of meat are generous and you can help yourself to as much vegetables as you want. There have been times when it is busy and you do have to wait for service (no different from anywhere else) but there are times when it isn't as busy and the service is good. We have never seen any gangs or groups of youths hanging around (as I have read in some of the other reviews) and the place is not over run with children. If something hasn't been right and we have mentioned it, the staff do their best to put it right, and we have never felt that the staff are rushing us. Kebab - 25 Nov 2013 21:24 |
We have been going regularly but the service is poor and they re too stingey with the food, they obviously play on the fact they are a carvery and think they can be rude and unhelpful to customers. Service gets worse everytime we,ve been and much quein with only 2 bar staff, now kids are back at school its full price instead of kids eatin for free. We will be takin our custom somewhere more cheerful where the staff look happy too ty. ruthy44 - 16 Sep 2012 22:43 |
AWFUL! Don't bother going here. We walked in to find no one there to seat us so we thought we would just find a table ourselves but to be rudely told to get back and wait for someone to seat us. AWFUL VEGGIE OPTION, DONT BOTHER IF YOU'RE VEGETARIAN. when the average veggie nut roast isnt available, they expect you to be satisfied with having LASAGNE or CHILLI with your carvery!! I asked for tap water, for it never to arrive. The place is just too hot, they dont seem to have any air con- which is just great in the height of summer. The serivce at the cavery counter isnt great either, they dislike giving more than one yorkshire pudding per person. However, the deserts are nice, but by the time i was finished i was so annoyed by the service that it was just impossible to enjoy it. My conclusion- this place is CHEAP but not CHEERFUL. sameeeeeh - 12 Nov 2011 17:30 |
I visited mid-week and it was very quiet. A chain pub atmosphere with a few real ales on. But it closed at 9.30pm and was mostly empty by then with the doors locked to prevent any new punters entering. Probably good for food earlier, but not really a drinkers pub at all. Avoid this if you just fancy a pint. FlimFlamMachine - 24 Feb 2011 09:49 |
Glad to see I am not alone. The food is pallatable (just) and yes, you get what you pay for, but the service is DIRE. I recently had the audacity to ask for some vanilla ice cream (instead of strawberry) for my daugher and was met by a torrent of abuse by the 'manageress'. Over a scoop of bloody Wall's. Totally unbelievable. Anyway, at leastI'm notserving pints in a soup kitchen for a fraction above the minimum wage on a weekend. Think on spray-tan lady! salenomad - 16 Nov 2009 20:24 |
