A nice little find was this. Good selection of ales, nicely decorated within, light but not bright as it got dark outside, friendly staff - a happy haven from the posh of the area, certainly a good way for a normal drinker to spend a couple of Wednesday evening hours. And I'm a scruffy bleeder and they didn't raise an eyebrow so presumably the noises about a dress code are off. cid - 24 Sep 2012 21:41 |
Oh dear. I ordered a bottled drink. The barman poured it with his back to me and called over a colleague, 'whispering' that the glass had a hair in it. They gave up trying to fish it out with their fingers and poured the drink into another glass... all the time presuming I had not noticed! So - a potentially lethal combination of thick AND unhygienic. watfordkev - 3 Apr 2012 11:19 |
Good hearty food, not too overpriced. Drinks very reasonable for this part of town. Popular with suits from the local boutique investment banks and trendy fashion types from the stores on Bond Street. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I don't think the legendary dress code really applies any more, although it's not the kind of place you would see ripped tshirts and shorts. More a shirt/smart jeans type of place. A small but pleasant range of beers on offer, usually a couple of decent ales on tap. Gets very busy at lunchtime, particularly in the spring/summer, when drinkers will spill out on to the street. moffty - 30 Mar 2012 11:20 |
A dress code? Really? Most of the times I've been there (more than I care to admit to) I've been in jeans and a t-shirt. Admittedly I was generally the scruffiest one in there but still........ brodie_bruce - 27 May 2011 14:34 |
