Friendly village pub in the beautiful Hampshire countryside with a nice beer garden. 3 ales on from Ringwood (no guest ales, which would have made it more exciting) in reasonable nick. Tasty food, from a straightforward menu. Worth a visit if you are in the area. JonRambo - 19 Jul 2017 11:26 |
We were staying in the area and wanted to go out for dinner on a Saturday night and a pint. We phoned a load of pubs in the area. They were all immensely expensive or full. Then we hit on this one. It was extremely quit, with only a couple of locals in the bar. But the food was great and affordable, the beer was very good and the service could not be faulted. I hope they can keep open. They really deserve to. But with this level of custom I can't see things lasting. Go and support them.! chrissmith - 5 Oct 2013 22:49 |
Excellent atmosphere. Tasty pub food. Lovely quiet village location. Marg4ret - 8 Jun 2012 00:07 |
Such a lovely pub, Such a good choice of beers that always taste to perfection - Ringwood Best and Fortyniner are standard with a guest beer on at certain times during the year. I have eaten at The Cartwheel Inn a fair few times now, and I must say the food is very good, your typical pub grub menu, with a specials board that changes constantly. I like this pub, because you are welcomed with a smile and chit chat as soon as you walk in the door, by the staff and the locals sat at the bar. The atmosphere is always lively and cheery even when there is no-one else in the pub, and the staff are always happy to help and go that extra mile to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Since the change of landlords back in 2010, I have never experienced a problem with this pub and I will continue to drink and eat there on a regular basis. Bobsuruncle - 5 Jun 2012 16:28 |
I really wanted to like this pub; it welcomes walkers and dogs (with well-behaved owners!), the beer is fine, and it's a traditionasl country pub which we should all support. So why did they ruin our Sunday roast ?? I have not had such a bad meal in a long time; the vegetables were virtually rotten and had to be returned; the yorkshire pudding was so heavy it could have been used as a weapon; the beef was grey and lying in a watery gravy. And to cap it all when I went to pay the 50+ bill at the bar, the barmain asked in a load voice so that all present could hear 'would you like to leave a tip sir ?' presumably on the assumption that with everybody at the bar watching I would do so; unfortunately she was mistaken. I like to think our bad treatment was a one off, but it will be a while before I go back to find out..... happy_wanderer - 15 Sep 2011 17:22 |
