Always busy, which makes for a great atmosphere. Always seems to be full of proper old school drinkers. Often stay in one of the nearby hotels and always make a point of popping in. Mappiman - 29 May 2014 21:08 |
The Stanhope is a good solid pub. Pleasant staff, nice decor, good beer and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for a post work pint. strangetorpor - 4 Oct 2013 17:21 |
Went in here with friends a few weeks ago - Actually really liked it! Went in on a whim as we were on the tube and deicded to jump off at Gloucester Rd as we had never been in the area! Around £4.10 for a Guinness which I have to say tasted very good indeed! Would return if in the area. Miker1234 - 1 May 2013 22:56 |
Nice pub with a good atmosphere, full of Italians for football the night we went. The beer was very good and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Quite extensive menu but avoid the fish and chips, very average. I would visit again for the beer and atmosphere but not the food. catador - 25 Feb 2013 11:50 |
Popped in whilst passing the other day. Exterior looked promising from a distance (without my glasses on!), but there was a complete over proliferation of those nasty blackboards with chalked offers of fish 'n' chips etc. which rather ruined the effect. Anyway it was quiet with a mixed clientele which I guess you could expect from the location outside Gloucester Road tube. Staff were friendly enough though and I had a couple of pints of Young's Gold which I have to say was very good. They also had Pride, Spitfire and Morland Hen on offer. beer_monster_smudge - 16 Feb 2012 12:48 |
