We escaped out of the freezing rain into this pub yesterday and it was a really delightful experience. The barman was very friendly when I enquired if kids were allowed and a high chair was brought out before we'd even sat down. The beer choice is excellent - I had a Seasider ale which was very good - there were also 4 or 5 other ales on. The menu is small, but has a Gallic twist (well the chef is French!), including snails which sadly they had run out of but we had cassoulet and steak et frites both of which were tasty and good value. The locals also seemed a good bunch (especially as we had a toddler running around). All in all this is a pub we hope to visit again. BothamsAshes - 23 Feb 2015 10:31 |

Suprised not to see a review for 4 1/2 years. Not as much character as the Duke of York but more entertainment on offer. filf - 12 Mar 2012 01:25 |
Great pub and atmosphere. Very nice smoking area outside for those of us who have decided to carry on! always a friendly face with some good music nights and good staff. Well worth the effort to work the extra few meters! ruddicks - 1 Aug 2007 13:35 |
nice to see a proper maneger in that knows what he is doing, all the youngsters and chaves have moved on and looks great with the new decour and excelent food on sunday to friday. have been told that the out side area will be ready for the smoking banwill be ready. good thing is they have an outside area that has a roof so with the typical weather hear you will stay dry. well wourth a visit wilsonbarr - 23 Jun 2007 17:35 |
