A nice pub situated on the road island near the bridge on the edge of Boroughbridge. Lovely interior, although mostly given over to the consumption of food (which was excellent)… Three beers on offer, Comfortably numb (a Dry-hopped fruity pale ale @ 3.8%) from Bad Co., Theakstons Bitter & Wychwood Hobgoblin. Founders Reserve cider... Like I say, primarily an "eating joint", but also with a pleasant atmosphere for drinkers and a reasonable beer choice. Barrow_Beer_Hunter - 17 Nov 2016 15:48 |
Double -fronted, white-washed pub just north of Boroughbridge centre. Modern decor including those ridiculous high chairs, loud carpet and matching loud wallpaper at one end. Sporty theme to the decor with ephemeria mainly football or horse racing oriented. Black Sheep, Tetley Cask and Wells Bombardier on hand pull plus the usual fizzy stuff. My Sheep was a bit stale and full of diacetyl, in spite of the friendly and speedy landlord pulling the pipes through a bit for me. Accommodation and food available and this lunchtime the clientele was a bit middle aged. There is a pool table, quiz machine, and a fruit machine if you're so inclined. anonymous - 24 Jan 2009 19:46 |
Absolutely fantastic pub suitable for people of all ages, a very busy friday night is popular amoungst all local residents with a superb dj and regular drinks offers. Sunday offers a friendly family day with carvery lunch and it position by the river and canal makes it lovely in the summer, and attracts many river folk. The rooms availible upstairs are regulary full with families holidaying and businessmen passing through.
