Due to close in a few weeks for what is rumoured to be a refurbishment?

Closed at 15:00 on a busy bank holiday. Closed or closed down? difficult to tell.

We saw the Reckless Engineer when we had arrived at Temple Meads station earlier in the day. It looked like a bit of a dive. On our return and with 10-15 minutes before our train departure, it seemed a good idea to slip in a swift half. Two ales were Otter Ale & Wells Bombardier Burning Gold. The best cider I could see was Addlestones on keg. The interior was pretty basic, with not much in the way of decoration. There were few other customers in either, considering its prime location opposite the station. Pretty poor, but handy.

We visited Bristol last weekend and stayed at the HI Express next door. On returning from a gig on the Thekla, we decided to go to this pub - not far to crawl to our hotel! It was brilliant!! A fantastic live band, good ale and wine, friendly punters... ended up dancing with a lady who, like me, had her husband with her but he didn't partake! Lots of bikers, all very friendly. Yes, it's a bit sparse, but I suppose it depends what you want - we like ale and rock, so it ticked those boxes before even chatting to the friendly locals! Great atmosphere - fab night, so much so am roping in my biker chic mate to get the train over one evening just to go here! :)
