Pub near the centre of Chichester and handy for the railway station. 3 ales on from Badger in reasonable condition. (no guest ales unfortunately, which would have provided some variety). Friendly service and not poncy: definitely a pub not a restaurant or bar. The front bar is quite smart, and there's a dining room at the rear (didn't try food). JonRambo - 19 Jul 2017 11:30 |
One of my favourite pubs I visited back in rainy June in Chichester. The pint of Badger - "Hopping Hare" was divine, the atmosphere was relaxed and the interior clean and comfortable and the service quick and friendly, 8/10 fat_beer_badger - 9 Sep 2012 16:16 |
Our first visit was 22 years ago when it as one of the few pubs in Chi to let kids in because they had a dining room for meals. Have had occasional visits for a drink ever since when passing through but ate there today, monkfish with mash & samphire, & lamb rump with baby veg (fennel, carrot courgette & squash) was classy but not overpriced. Bread & butter pud comes with a wee saucepan of single cream. L oos need attention though... c_and_j - 7 Jun 2012 23:04 |
3 roomed pub about 5 minutes from the station. Also has a large outdoor seating area which is somewhat of a sun trap. Beers from Hall & Woodhouse - Badger, Tanglefoot, Hopping Hare and K&B Sussex on yesterday. All in good nick. Fairly standard pub menu available with specials. cheshirecat - 20 Apr 2011 09:33 |
A refreshingly traditional pub in a city with too many fancy 'gastro' joints. The front bar is fairly spartan, with the regulars all to be found in the more cozy back room. A blackboard indicates frequent live music nights. The same four beers are available from handpumps in each bar, including a decent pint of Pickled Partridge at 3.10 (and it appears to be a freehouse despite all the ales coming from Hall & Woodhouse). rpadam - 3 Feb 2010 23:23 |
