| The Cedars pub is closing its doors on 19th February 2009. Its the end of an era for people who use the pub. My partner worked in this pub and has drunk in it for the last 30 years. I have only been using the pub for the last two and half years (since I met my now husband) and I love it, sounds sad but it our second home. The people who use and run it are so down to earth, no airs and graces, you can go in there on your way home in your work clothes and no-one will mind. I have had a lot of fun at that pub, where on Thursdays and Friday nights there was always entertainment. We had our wedding reception there last May. We have had a great weekend, this weekend, the landlord was 60 and they have had a party all weekend, but as I said on Thursday, 19th February 2009, the pub will close it's doors, as so far they have not found anyone to run it, the brewery will probably want to ruin it by turning it into a food pub of which there are many in the same area. When will the breweries wake up to the fact that this does not work anymore? Some people do not want food pubs where the atmosphere is almost dead? Also the government have killed most pubs by banning smoking from them, just wish some of the bureaucrats would wake up to what the ordinary person wants. I just had to post this review as I am so, so upset about this pub closing, there is no other pub like it in Coventry and it will be sorely missed. teresad - 16 Feb 2009 09:05 |
