Nice Pub in the Market Sq had 2 pints of Boondoggle very well kept ,a pub well worth a visit. lowerbourneshot - 1 Oct 2013 13:24 |
This pub is another hotel situated in the Market Square. Internally it is very nicely decorated. Externally it's an imposing looking place with a large garden and outside area to the front with umbrellas. 2 ales one Tim Taylor's Landlord and Exmoor Gold. I had the Gold and again like most of the pubs I'd been in, in Alton was very good. For 3 of us this place was the most expensive of the lot, over £10.00 for 3 pints...the Swan was the second dearest at £9.85. I would come here again if I'm ever in Alton. lezford - 5 Aug 2013 13:41 |
Started my drinking career in the "old market" its been massively overhauled by the new owners into a swanky new bar/restaurant. New owners are cool, Not tried the food yet but the atmosphere is great. Normal people drinking in there :-) Now the George has had a crash change of management maybe the market can pick up some of the fallout free floating punters DItch the bouncers on the door though!! Ladies beware the cocktails, they are large in quantity and strength and have caught a couple of people out :-) bigbeewee - 5 Nov 2011 12:38 |
This establishment is now transformed beyond recognition. The interior decor is imaginative (in a good way), and the place is clean, light, efficient and friendly. The Butcombe (3.30) was in great form, and there was Doombar besides (which I couldn't be be bothered to try). There's some good food available too - neither cheap nor extortionate. Well worth a visit - for the Butcombe and market square location if nothing else. Monstermash - 4 Oct 2011 15:51 |
