The Raisin might be part of the Scream chain but it's totally unique. No other pub in the town has the same atmosphere. It's got great staff, fantastic locals and cheap prices. What more could you want?! You can have a great, drunken night out and go for a recovery burger and game of pool the next day. Best pub in town. Can't wait to make my return!! Love you Raisin! Hey thats my local your talking about bluedevil & balls to your comment. Its a great pub to go for a drink with mates or to go & meet new folk. You can't beat the raisin! Tacky my arse! ( & plus the manager there is pretty fit) Emz - 11 Oct 2005 17:33 |
possibly the tackiest bar in town BlueDevil - 20 Aug 2005 04:45 |
Andy's comment below is quite right. It's just the same as all the others. It is one for the students though (the braying hoorays even get cheaper beer in here I think). When they've gone back to Berkshire for the Summer/Winter it's OK - decent pool tables and a comfortable place to watch the footie. It should be included on a crawl of the town, but not really worth visting in it's own right. MrLash - 20 Dec 2004 15:19 |
One of the 'It's a Scream' chain, you know exactly what you're going to get when you go into The Raisin. The colours are the same. The jukebox is the same. The beers are the same. The food is the same. The comfy sofas are the same, although the nice big windows do let in a lot of nice light, which is a bit different - there's still a hint of 'living room' in the main seating area. There are some It's A Scream pubs which stand out for one reason or another, but there really isn't a stand-out point for this one. It's pretty much standard fare, not that the standard fare is bad - it's just standard. Fine for a couple if you get cold on your way somwhere else, or fancy a game of pool. Andy - 16 Feb 2004 14:18 |
