It might be a nice-looking pub but, sadly, the Hooky Bitter was disappointingly poor/average yesterday afternoon. We weren't there to eat but a "Hooky Battered Mars Bar Duo" wouldn't have done it for me. The nearby Crown at Weston (not listed on this site) served a much better pint.

Lovely unspoilt pub. The Hook Norton beers are always good and they usually have Hooky Bitter and one other on. Food is good too (pub food rather than a gastro pub but very nice), and the locals are a very friendly and inclusive lot. It is genuinely hard to stand at the bar for more than 30 seconds and not end up in a conversation. I've stayed here a couple times on business and the rooms and breakfasts are good too. Highly recommended.

In a deserted village I was surprised to find this place open of an afternoon. There is a dining area out back and a small front bar is divided between some dining tables and what appears to be a locals drinking area. Only a few staff there who seemed friendly enough. Had a swift pint of Hooky Bitter which was on very good form.

Almost the perfect pub. Excellent Hook Norton ales, cosy fire in winter, stone-flagged floors...

In the Summer this little village pub is full of tourists (it is opposite George Washington's ancentyral home of Sulgrave Manor) but go after September when The Manor is clossed and you will get a friendly village pub with a superb menu, good beer, open fires and friendly locals and staff. There is a Restaurant on the back but I would recommend that you stay in the Bar and enjoy the atmosphere (and you can eat there too if you prefer - as we always do).
