With time for one more pub in Totnes, I chose the Albert. This is the home of the Bridgewater Brewery. But it only had one of their beers on. This was Albert Ale. Two guests were Teignworthy Old Moggie & Keltec Magic. The cider was Old Rosie. This was actually my favourite pub in Totnes. It had a lively atmosphere in the front bar, with a cover band playing rock classics. I retreated to the slightly quieter rear bar. The pub has a really traditional feel and locals were friendly. So was the landlord. Toilets are in the yard at the rear, where there is also a disused bar billiard table. I'm surprised this is not in the Good Beer Guide. blue_scrumpy - 30 Jan 2017 20:42 |
Had a roast dinner here in July, excellent value, choice of roasts. We ate in the garden. Inside choice of main bar, or back bar with bar billiards, live music on saturday, choice of brewed on site ale at 4.2, 3.8, occasionally stout, the infamous HEMP beer. reasonable prices. This is olde worlde, a real treat of a pub, regular beer festivals popeye321 - 20 Oct 2015 14:07 |
Back again after 2 year and it is as good as ever. The Hunts real cider has gone, but it has been replaced by a choice of the local Wivilscombe 'Suicider' or Westons Old Rosie. The Albert is now the only real cider pub in town now that the Bay Horse has gone over to kegged stuff. jgurney1 - 19 Feb 2015 18:24 |
Had a pint here of their stuff, spot on. Also a cracking roast dinner at a very reasonable price. Nice people that made us feel very welcome. We will be back! Fredco - 4 Feb 2015 20:32 |
The nameless cider reported on 7/8/11 has gone, replaced by the very good Hunt's Dry. The pub is as good as ever, and now has an expanded food offering, including a tasty vegetarian hommity pie (a local potato, onion, leek & cheese dish). 10/10. jgurney1 - 29 Oct 2012 23:10 |
