Well the girlfriend reckons it's her new number one for a Sunday lunch out. I'm not totally there but at the same time I can't think of anywhere we've been recently that tops it. Great big piece of cod with loads of chips and peas (and not in a Poncey ramekin!). Excellent homemade chilli for her. Sat upstairs in busy restaurant and enjoyed excellent service. Great pint of Churchill, would have loved a few more but was in the car. Roaring log fire, will be back for a pint and sandwich downstairs with the footy as soon as the nearby Quebec house is open again for the season. TommyRogers1979 - 26 Jan 2015 22:17 |
Drove here in the 2CV with the roof back on a sunny late February Sunday. Two pints of Westerham 'Jubilation', excellent beer. others tried Timothy Taylor was was also praised. We sat in the back bar with the log fire. The food was excellent and very well presented. Chicken Curry for me. At least four real ales from handpumps. Really liked the place and will return. Food expensive? 78 pounds for dinner for four and six pints. Not bad was it? Paul_Rochdale - 26 Feb 2012 16:07 |
Old style pub right on the village green. Not much room in the two downstairs bars but there's a big dining room upstairs. Nice log fire burning in the rear bar. Westerham beers on pump, they only had "Jubilee" on while I was there but that was fine. Food was good but quite expensive. Very friendly / helpful staff. alan_From_SAWW - 16 Feb 2012 16:38 |
Not bad, but too close to the green and therfore too many tourists. Nice selection of local beers including 2 from the Westerham brewery. Food very nice but a bit expensive, 2 seperate bars and the journey from the public bar to the gents needs a degree in mountainering, not the thing if you've just had a few drinks. The location is the thing here, just off the green, next to the church, just handy for ramblers, bikers and tourists. Shagnastie - 23 Oct 2010 21:36 |
I have been to this place a few times now and overall I would say it is quite good . There is a selection of 5 or 6 ales including local favourites from the Westerham brewery as well as Harveys , Adnams Broadside and sometimes Timothy Taylors Landlord . It is only small but has three bar areas , usually a good atmosphere and the Landlord/Landlady have put a bit of work in and have been here for years . There is a courtyard type beer garden , but I have not ventured out there as the front of the pub is the place to be . The menu looks interesting , have only had a lunchtime snack so far but it was nice . When the sun is out you can sit on the green with Mr Churchill and General Wolfe and watch the world go by . Overall ... location , decor , beer , food, atmosphere and staff make this a real good pub , and I now live a short walk away :-) . ThirstyMing - 18 Oct 2010 14:33 |
