This Islington boozer has recently changed hands (about time) and undergone a dramatic refurbishment. I have been in a few times now and always find myself coming back (it does help that it is only a 5 minute walk away!). The pub itself is laid out in a crescent shape with service from the bar all the way around. The decor is fresh and clean, the bar has been tidied up and it all looks rather impressive. The selection of drinks provide some good lagers; Amstel, Heineken etc, plus Landlord and Doombar, which I have been told are pretty good. As I am not an ale drinker myself I have very little knowledge on these fluids so couldn't personally comment! The homemade scotch eggs are a standout along with Ginger Pig sausage rolls if you happen to be hungry. The crowd ranges from young to old, Islington locals to the 'landed gentry', so it always has a nice, welcoming vibe and the weekends have been relatively busy when I have wandered in to get out of the cold or meet a pal. I would recommend this place, a nice new addition to the armoury of Islington watering holes without the pretentious aura that is normally associated with pubs in the area. docfreud - 8 Jan 2013 15:52 |
This is a locals boozer with a plasma screen in the front bar and a dartboard in the back. I found the barmaid to be nice enough and there is a standard draught selection alongside Greene King IPA. It is not the biggest pub and the dcor is very outdated and my Guinness wasnt the best so I doubt that I would return. Strongers - 6 Sep 2009 21:35 |
Only GK IPA and no decent bottles. Reasonable as a pub otherwise, small front bar with room the other side. No reason to make a visit. GuideDogSaint - 24 Feb 2008 22:57 |
The Myddleton Arms is a pretty decent, unpretentious pub in an area where a lot of places have undergone ghastly makeovers. Not a bad place to go for a quiet pint. Hal - 28 Oct 2005 04:20 |
