This is a grim pub with knuckle dragging regulars and a tired drab interior. The barmaid was very friendly and there is a projector screen for showing Sky Sports, but as there was no worthwhile sport being played the screen was off and very loud 90s music was being boomed around the pub. I did spot a dartboard case on the wall above a piano, but there were many tables on the oche so I doubt that there is an actual board. There is only an uninspiring selection of standard draught products available and I didnt feel very welcome so I wont be returning. Strongers - 8 Sep 2009 20:41 |
I live about six buildings away from this pub. It's nice to see a pub that hasn't yet sucumbed to the Islington effect but I'm still too scared to go in. Lovely room, high ceiling, big windows. Decor that hasn't been updated since about 1987. Before the smoking ban lots of dodgy geezers hanging around the bar chain smoking. Since the ban, lots of dodgy geezers hanging around the street outside chainsmoking and no-one inside. toom - 17 Nov 2007 20:14 |
Real craphole....OK if you want scary dodgy geezers and "Wot you lookin' at!" bernieboy - 12 Jan 2006 03:44 |
This place is a dive and is poorly managed. The first time I went there it was in the afternoon. The blonde bar-maid was really nice looking but was too busy playing with her hair to notice I was waiting to be served. Dirty tables and glassed not collected. Mikey - 8 Nov 2004 00:19 |
This was at the time the only pub I could find on the Essex road with a big screen .Scary people but ultimately friendly. Good value beer- pub and its regulars in some kind of time warp and probably hasn't seen a lick of paint in years. Russ - 20 Jan 2004 13:22 |
